QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Ability to obtain CHSAA certification requirements

  3. Successful coaching experience in assigned sport
  4. Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport
  5. A desire to continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the sport
  6. Effective problem-solving skills

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:
  1. Develop and present a policy on lettering to supervisors for review and approval prior to the first season's contest.
  2. Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques that will be taught.'
  3. Operate within budget appropriations and participate in the budgeting function with the athletic director by establishing requirements for the current and next season.
  4. Recommend equipment guidelines as to type, style, color, or technical specifications, be accountable for all equipment, and collect the cost of any equipment lost or not returned.
  5. Arrange for the issuing, storing, and reconditioning of equipment and submit annual inventory and current records concerning same.
  6. Meet with parents and participants prior to the start of the sport season.
  7. Provide program expectations, procedures, and policies to parents and participants.
  8. Delegate specific duties and analyze staff effectiveness.
  9. Evaluate assistant coach(es).
  10. Have knowledge of athletic policies approved by Eagle County Schools and CHSAA and be responsible for implementation within the coaching staff.
  11. Have knowledge and be able to implement CHSAA, League, and National regulations.
  12. Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled practices/sporting events and adhere to scheduled facility times.
  13. Assist in providing documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examination, parental consent, proof of insurance, and eligibility.
  14. Report in writing, ineligibility status for players in the first working day following an event to the athletic director, league schools, and CHSAA.
  15. Monitor student athlete grades and conduct in regards to eligibility.
  16. Supervise athletic participants from the time they report to the practice site or game until they leave at the conclusion of the activity.
  17. Provide training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete participant.
  18. Direct and guide assistants, statisticians, and student managers.
  19. Monitor athletic areas.
  20. Promote the sport within the school through recruiting athletes who are not in other sport programs and promote the sport outside the school through news media, youth programs, or in any other feasible manner.
  21. Have knowledge of and enforce all aspects of the Eagle County Schools athletic handbook.
  22. Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, including care and proper use.
  23. Secure all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving the building.
  24. Attend all practices and games, and while traveling, provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.
  25. Be responsible for maintaining good public relations with news media, Booster Clubs, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
  26. Assist the athletic director in scheduling of tournaments and special sporting events and organizing the requirements for such.
  27. Follow the proper administrative chain of command and refer all questions/concerns accordingly.
  28. Provide proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
  29. Present information to news media concerning schedules, tournaments, and contest results.
  30. Perform other duties as assigned.
  31. Utilize only team building activities that do not include harassment or hazing.
  32. Within 24 of an incident, complete paperwork on all athletic injuries on proper forms and submit to the athletic office.
