Role Mission: The SIS Data Manager leads the national portfolio of all work relating to the clear and accurate management of student data at IDEA Public Schools. This manager aspires to design, implement, and improve processes and systems to ensure all schools and staff are empowered to facilitate their work with the highest degree of legitimacy in data integrity.

Accountabilities

1. 100% Data Accuracy as m easured by PEIMS State Submissions
  • Establishes a clear annual cycle for managing the successful submission of required PEIMS data
  • Develops extensive data visibility within and across IDEA departments to identify data anomalies and minimize risk
  • Establishes strong business partnerships with department heads, school leaders, and regional leaders to guide the overall strategy for the student data pipeline
  • Develops robust protocols for proactively managing changes, updates, and requests by the Texas Education Agency to ensure IDEA meets all obligations


2. Achieve 100% Beginning of Year Readiness for SIS Data Operations by the First Day of School
  • Partner with School Launch and other Information Systems departments to identify and develop strategies for launching new regions and schools
  • Lead infrastructure expansions and adjustments to optimize SIS (PowerSchool) performance
  • Drive configuration and setup of new instances and schools for first day success
  • Lead review and update of automated processes, reports, etc. for the new academic year
  • In coordination with the Director of SIS, identify opportunities and challenges for meaningful reform to expand capacity and build efficiencies each year


3. 97.5% Average Daily Attendance (ADA) for the networ k
  • Ensure clear data visibility around progress towards goals, trends over time, and areas of concern to empower maximum freedom of action
  • Surface data around compliance with the district procedures manual and State Attendance Accounting Handbook
  • Internally and with district partners, contribute to a growing culture of analytics to ensure campus, regional, and national staff are working smarter versus harder in identifying root causes behind gaps and meaningful interventions


4. 85% Retention of SIS Coordinators & Registrars
  • Oversee the development and improvement of data visibility at the campus to ensure rapid adoption and awareness among staff
  • Partner with SIS Operations Manager and Director to design effective training and rollout strategies
  • Problem solve around acute and chronic challenge areas relating to hiring, onboarding, developing, and retaining SIS & Registrars
  • Operationalize major KPIs and reports in partnership with the Software Development department to entrench key processes and behaviors through intuition and usability

Supervisory Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Education: BA Required; BA in Accounting, Information Management, Computer Science, or MBA strongly preferred
  • Experience: 5 years of proven leadership in SIS Data Systems


Knowledge and Skills
  • PowerSchool Administration or experience working in a K-12 educational setting dealing with PEIMS preferred
  • Knowledge on technology plan design that includes network architecture, software selection.
  • Knowledge on Oracle administration (Tables, View, Functions, Procedures, Triggers )
  • P-SQL (Oracle)
  • Upgrade and reconfigure PowerSchool Server nodes.
