About the Lee Academy Pilot School: The Lee Academy Pilot School is an inclusion school located in
the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. We currently serve 200 learners in grades K0- 3. Our staff is highly
qualified; teachers are certified in general education, special education and the instruction of English language
learners. Each classroom is supported by a surround care paraprofessional. Students find joy in learning through
diverse experiences. We use a tiered system of support to address the academic and behavioral needs of each
student. Children at our school are able to participate in physical education, yoga, music, art, science, Tae Kwon
Do, and dance.

partnerships with families, educators, and community members. By meeting children's social-emotional needs and
by guiding them to strive for academic excellence, we are a community which is inclusive, diverse, and equitable

curiosity while nurturing the individual genius in every child.

Job Description: The Lee Academy Governing Board seeks an ambitious leader with the skills and
experience to guide and support our learning community. This individual must lead, inspire, and empower staff as
we work together to ensure a high- achieving instructional environment that is culturally responsive, nurturing, and
collaborative. With a fierce dedication to social justice, this leader has a love, understanding and appreciation for
students with special or unique needs.
The successful candidate exercises a balanced skill set of managerial effectiveness, instructional rigor, operational
efficiency, and community engagement. The candidate will optimize our autonomies through fundraising,
collaboration with community partners, curriculum development, budgeting, and scheduling. Through collaboration
with other pilot school leaders the candidate will advocate for student and teacher needs. This leader strives to
create a "beloved community" amongst staff, students and families.

Skills, Competencies and Responsibilities: Our School leader must exhibit
the following competencies, mindsets, and skills:

Professional Culture:
? Support high expectations of achievement for all students through a personal commitment to, articulation of,
and enlistment in culturally responsive school vision, core values, and mission;
? Engage in and lead all educators in reflecting on the effectiveness of their practice to achieve improved
results;
? Resolve conflicts in a constructive and supportive manner and build consensus around critical decisions;
? Develop collegial environment that supports teacher leadership, collaboration, and growth;
? Express and demonstrate appreciation for staff expertise and experience through words and actions.
Instructional Leadership:
? Lead the school's vision, mission, and strategic goals to support student's academic success and readiness
skills;
? Possess strong pedagogical understanding and skills;
? Support and supervise the backwards design of content embedded units;
? Implement an observation and feedback cycle that ensures continuous improvement in teaching and
learning;
? Analyze student achievement results in order to identify areas of need and inform instructional goals;
? Develop and implement a professional development plan to address identified areas of need in conjunction
with staff feedback;
? Set high expectations and communicate them to all stakeholders.
Management and Operations:
? Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for students, staff, and families;
? Serve as a strong school advocate with BPS departments and offices;
? Demonstrate excellence in fiscal management and decision-making by aligning people, time and money to
drive student achievement;
? Oversee the recruitment, hiring and retention of diverse, highly-qualified staff;
? Comply with all state and federal laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements (including the Lee
Academy election to work agreement).
Family and Community Engagement:
? Welcome family members as partners in the work by utilizing their expertise, passion, and wealth of
knowledge;
? Actively advocate for and engage family and community members;
? Partner with the Governing Board to develop and execute a successful fundraising strategy;
? Support staff capacity to cultivate and sustain meaningful partnerships with families and community
members that support student achievement and student well-being.

Qualifications:
? Master's Degree in Educational/School Leadership or related fields from an accredited institution required;
? Experience in early education required;
? Massachusetts Principal Licensure (by time of appointment) required;
? Experience in English Language Development (ELD) and Special Education strategies strongly preferred;
? 3+ years of teaching experience strongly preferred;
? Experience with autonomous school settings highly preferred;
? Experience in an urban school setting highly preferred;
? Experience in a leadership position within a school highly preferred;
? Demonstrated experience in building a positive culture amongst staff and students highly preferred;
