The Communications Coordinator reports to the Senior Manager of Internal Communications and Operations and is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing content for CPS websites and other internal communications.

The Communications Coordinator reports to the Senior Manager of Internal Communications and Operations and is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing content for CPS websites and other internal communications.
Web Coordination
- Develop, review, and edit website material to maintain and improve the quality of information provided on CPS internal and external websites
- Consult with staff to transform complex information into engaging content that informs our families, staff and stakeholders
- Ensure content meets branding and accessibility standards
- Utilize project management software to create, assign, and track assignments and ensure deadlines are met
Writing, Editing, & Design
- Write, edit, proofread, and copy edit a variety of content for districtwide emails and other internal communications
- Work with graphic designer to create compelling invitations, handouts, etc.
- Ensure materials are succinctly written and edited in accordance with CPS style guide
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Communications Coordinator must possess the following qualifications:
Type of Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Political Science, Journalism, English, or Public Relations
Type of Experience and Number of Years:
- 2-3 years of experience in communications, marketing/PR, political campaigns, education policy, or classroom instruction
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to consult with staff and clients to transform complex information into engaging materials that inform our families, staff and stakeholders
- Skilled in writing, editing, proofreading, and copyediting a variety of content for websites, emails, and internal communications
- Ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously
- Ability to learn new software and content management systems
- Ability to write in plain language and edit materials in accordance with style guides
- Bilingual applicants (Spanish/English) are strongly encouraged to apply
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and multimedia content creation is preferred
