The Harlem Peacemaker program supports elementary and middle schools, offering a school success program during the school day and providing afterschool programs as well as summer programming. All of the programs are operated under the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene School Aged Childcare (SACC) as well as one DYCD location. The programs provide young people and their families with the support and services that enable them to have a vision of a productive future.
We are currently seeking Programs Aides to help support general program activities for our students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We are currently seeking Programs Aides to help support general program activities for our students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work directly with students in all of their activities (i.e. arts, dance, sports, etc)
- Assist teachers with participants physical, emotional, social, moral and intellectual development
- Create and implement activities, workshops and events for students based on their interests and with their involvement
- Model positive behavior for the youth
- Engage the youth in dialogue (one-to-one and group discussions) around topics of concern for their age group and developmental stage
- Assist in the completion of homework and test prep
- Maintain the up keep of supplies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
- High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Some experience working with students and/or at-risk youth
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Familiar with issues prevalent in underserved communities
- Must be able to engage and motivate students
