NATURE OF POSITION:
Responsible for teaching career explorations or Virginia Rules educational program courses as needed for grades 6-8.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Utilizing the academic and career plan or the Virginia Rules educational program the teacher will be responsible for assisting students to identify and demonstrate the relationship of personal interests, goals and course planning as it relates to career choices and understanding the law as it applies to teens in their everyday lives.

Teaches skills and knowledge through courses in career exploration utilizing the designated curriculum.

Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division's basic instructional philosophy.

Plans a career exploration program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments; organizes activities for optimal learning.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold or be eligible for Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in any area.

START DATE: July 23, 2019 (2019 - 2020 School Year)
SALARY / STIPEND: Consistent with the 2019-2020 DPS Teacher Salary Scale, depending on experience and advanced degrees. In addition, the Danville School Board pays the employee cost in full for state-mandated life insurance; and in part for state retirement and health insurance. Other benefits include sick leave and personal leave.
