Library/Tech Assistant

Job Position/Title: Library/Tech Assistant

Reports to: Principal/Library-Media Specialist

Office/Campus: Library/Bento Campus

Status: 10 month, full time, non-exempt

Primary Purpose: To support the Library/Media Specialist in performing a variety of library and technology duties.

Essential Duties/Functions:

Library

  • Attend to circulation desk and assist students and teachers with circulation of resources
  • Assist students, parents, and faculty with finding resources in the library
  • Assist students with reference questions and provide book recommendations
  • Generate overdue notices and collect/deposit fines
  • Shelve and maintain order/cleanliness of resources
  • Assist with organization and management of the library facility
  • Process new books and materials
  • Assist with reading promotional events i.e.; Book Fair
  • Maintain and update records in online catalog
  • Repair worn books and media
  • Monitor behavior of student

Technology

  • Maintain calendar for Technology Lab use
  • Upload and organize Google Drive folders for Teacher Cohorts
  • Manage check out for Teacher Cohort camera/iPad
  • Assist in updating and disseminating student account information under the guidance of the Librarian (i.e.- keyboarding, Google Accounts, etc.).
  • Administer and manage keyboarding assessment
  • Assist librarian with classroom technology integration projects
  • Update and maintain iMacs in Technology Lab
  • Manage iPad updates and requests with workstation manager
  • Make basic updates to Finalsite LMS
  • Maintain 3D printers
  • Train co-workers in proper usage of AV. equipment.
  • Keep annual inventory of materials
  • Assist with testing in Technology Lab (CPAA, STAR)
  • Work with teachers to print programs and certificates as needed

Other Duties/Functions:

  • Prepare book lists and book displays under supervision of librarian
  • Prepare receipts, correspondence, memos
  • Assist teachers and students
  • Inventory
  • Provide faculty and administrative support
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Equipment and Software Use: Computer skills, photocopier, multi-line push button telephone, laminator, Smart Board, iPad, Google docs/calendars/forms, FinalSite, MyBackpack.
  • Work Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Some weekday after-hours and weekend work may be required.
  • Mental Demands: Exercises good judgement, able to make sound decisions, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, Basic mathematical ability, attention to detail, concentration.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time. Flexibility in moving with children. Ability to move heavy objects up to 35 lbs.
  • Social Demands: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all stakeholders in a friendly and concise ways
