SUMMARY:
The Auto Body Technology Instructor is expected to prepare high school youth for entry into the auto body technology trades or transfer on to apprenticeship or Community/technical College training programs. The teacher is expected to provide leadership and strong instructional skills to ensure students have a solid understanding of basic auto body technology and operations.

CONTEXT AND MISSION:
Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, and White Center in Washington State. In 2013, parents, students, community members, and staff at all levels of the district came together to develop a strategic plan that reflects our goals and dreams for our students. The plan was updated in 2018 to guide our work through 2023. The plan's promise is that every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates prepared for the future they choose. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Teach and follow the learning objectives of the auto body technology program. * Provide students with an overview of the auto body technology industry, including current practices. * Provide students career information, and hands-on learning activities. * Provide personal and employment counseling for students. * Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance and complete PSSC reports in a timely manner. * Maintain a safe environment for students. Other Functions * Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Washington State Career and Technical Education certification in Auto Body Repair or sufficient industry experience to be CTE certified prior to the position start date Three years of varied work experience in the auto body technology industry



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of CTE teacher preparation program One year of supervisory experience One year teaching experience with high school age students CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT Criminal background clearance

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Auto body industry Supervision of high school students School board policies and procedures

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups in a multicultural and diverse community Operate a variety of office equipment including microcomputers and related software Organize work, select action plans and follow tasks through to completion Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance and prepare accurate reports in a timely manner Work effectively with high school-aged students Comply with school board policies and follow administrative procedures

AUTO BODY TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR - Summer Session While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor and outdoor conditions and exposed to diesel and gas fumes. The employee regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
