The Delta School is a Pre K-12 progressive school that features project based learning with a focus on human centered design. The 31 acre campus has a remarkable historic mansion, a makerspace and an educational garden. 

Applicants should be lifelong learners who are passionate about research and shares our small, progressive school’s enthusiasm for inquiry and discovery through student centered projects. A strong candidate will be driven by curiosity and wonder who can demonstrate creativity and flexibility in their approach/ execution of curriculum designed to interrogate 21st century problems. As part of our lower school team, you will collaborate continuously to research, create, and deliver challenging student centered projects appropriate for elementary aged students. The nature of our small (100 students) school is progressive by design and dynamic, social, and vibrant by nature.

 

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.

Desired Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in age 8-10 classroom
  • Reading instruction background
  • Training in Montessori, Waldorf, or Reggio Emilia instruction for children ages 8-10 or concurrent enrollment experience
  • Project creation, management, research, and field experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work with parents of elementary aged children
  • Sense of humor a must
  • Love of collaboration

Company

The Delta School is founded as a non-profit, independent, co-educational school for students in grades K-12. The school was established to serve as an educational option in Mississippi County as well as a national model of educational excellence.

Our master plan is designed to educate 200 students in grades K-12. We first opened in 2015-16 by serving students ages 4-12. Since then each year, we add another grade, moving our students forward until 12th grade. Our upper school will open 2018-2019, but we are bringing on the founding staff of the upper school a year in advance to plan and prepare.
