Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire, IL) is seeking an Assistant Director of Special Education for the 2019-2020 school year.
Description:
The Assistant Director of Special Education assists the Special Education Director with providing oversight and support for Special Education and all related services. Facilitates the development and implementation of curriculum and instruction, evaluates certified and non-certified personnel within the department, and ensures compliance with Special Education law and Board policy for the purpose of advancing student growth and development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
* Focuses on continuous improvement of instruction and service delivery through professional leadership and evaluation of faculty and staff
* Observes and evaluates members of department providing constructive feedback in order to foster continuous improvement by all staff members
* Provides effective ongoing supervision of department members
* Coordinates the implementation of research based learning programs
* Serves as the LEA for IEP/MDC meetings
* Effectively communicates to parents and guardians the special education process, including processes for referrals, evaluations, annual IEPs, and reevaluations
* Coordinates the completion of IEP benchmarking, progress monitoring and quarterly IEP progress reports for students and parents
* Facilitates the middle school articulation and 8th grade transition processes
* Provides leadership to problem solving teams
* Performs other tasks as requested by the Director of Special Education
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a HS LBS1 endorsement required
• General Administrative or Principal endorsement required
• Director of Special Education endorsement - preferred
• Teacher evaluator ISBE qualification
• Prior experience as a leader in Special Education
• 5 or more years High School Special Education experience
Knowledge of federal and state special education statutes, regulations, school and special education law
