    Minimum Required Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Education, Education Administration, or closely related field, and five (5) years of teaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level;
    • Must have knowledge of school administration and educational techniques and use communication skills to effectively maintain working relationships

    Special Requirements:
    Valid Arizona Principal and teacher certification from the State of Arizona Department of Education

    Definition : The Assistant Principal supports a principal by managing staffing and staff development, pupil personnel services, program development and resources, building management and school-community relations.

    Reports to : Principal

    Essential Functions: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.     Tasks:
    • Plans, develops and submits for approval an annual master schedule for all school activities and class schedules to ensure compliance with established district, state and federal instructional requirements, guidelines, regulations and objectives.
    • Collaborates with counseling staff and faculty regarding the proper placement of students in classes.
    • Discusses concerns students may have with teachers and facilitates discussion of such with all parties involved.
    • Collaborates with counseling staff and faculty to resolve student learning or discipline problems and recommends methods to meet the educational and emotional needs of students.
    • Participates in a variety of school-based and district committees, meetings and conferences.
    • Prepares and submits activity and statistical reports.
    • Conducts student recognition and awards ceremonies.
    • Provides supervision during student lunch periods, before school drop-off , and after school pick- up.
    • Evaluates professional employee performance and provides constructive feedback regarding performance.
    • Enforces standards of student behavior to minimize school program and classroom interruptions.
    • Prescribes discipline and follows up with parents for offenses warranting suspension.
    • Attends and supervises extracurricular student activities and student council meetings.
    • Presents and facilitates staff and staff development meetings and retreats.
    • Reviews and approves exceptional schedule change requests, disciplinary actions, maintenance and operation purchases and admission of visitors on campus.
    • Supervises or assists in the supervision of support staff for functions such as office support, educational assistants, and custodian services.
    • Other duties as assigned by the principal.
