    Title: Middle School Instructional Coach

    Qualifications: *Current Kansas Teaching Certificate with endorsement appropriate to the assignment on file in the Devin Center
    *Health certificate on file in Devin Center
    *Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience
    *Has demonstrated proficiency in increasing student achievement in their own classroom
    *Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    *Knowledge of current trends in education
    *Understanding of curriculum and instruction and educational standards

    Reports to: Building Principal
    Supervises: N/A

    Basic Function/PurposeProvide personalized and sustained professional development through one-on-one coaching, facilitation of and participating in Professional Learning Communities, and development and facilitation of large group professional development with the goal of improving teacher practice and student learning.

    The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Performance Responsibilities
    1. Facilitate inquiry cycles with teachers focused on an area of professional growth, including planning, observation, student work analysis and reflection/debrief.
    2. Facilitates and participates in Professional Learning Communities.
    3. Plan and facilitate large group, small group and individual professional development aligned to building and district goals.
    4. Provide targeted, short-term coaching around specific practices and strategies.
    5. Engage in self-reflection and continuous improvement.
    6. Describe and communicate what effective performance looks like.
    7. Honor confidentiality of the coach/teacher relationship.
    8. Communicate regularly with building principal and coaching coordinator on progress toward goals and support needed.
    9. Provide assistance and resources in a timely manner.
    10. Model and explain effective teaching strategies.
    11. Regularly observe and provide evidence-based, objective feedback.
    12. Help teachers analyze and reflect on student data in order to guide their instruction and ensure appropriate placement of students.
    13. Meet regularly with coaches to collaborate and participate in targeted professional development around coaching.
    14. Attend professional seminars, conventions, and other trainings in order to receive ongoing learning in all applicable content areas.

    Term of Employment: Teacher Contract

    Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.

    Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
