Qualifications:
*Masters degree from an accredited college/university.
*Current Kansas License with endorsement appropriate to the assignment on file.
*Health certificate on file in Devin Center.
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills
*Knowledge of current trends in education
*Understanding of curriculum and instruction and educational standards
Reports To: Building Principal
BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
Assists the Principal in working with staff, students and parents to achieve the mission and vision of Junction City Middle School.

The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

- Assists the principal in the discharge of his/her duties at all times and acts in the capacity of the principal during the principal's absence from the school
- Assist with the Special Education program, including serving as the LEA representative for IEP's.
- Assists with the evaluation of licensed and classified staff in the performance of their duties.
- Conduct frequent walkthroughs of faculty and provide feedback to staff.
- Conduct hearings for suspensions and expulsions as needed.
- Assists in the promotion of positive school climate.
- Promotes school safety by implementing safety drills for fire, severe weather, crisis, etc.
- Serves as a facilitator of teaching teams for a designated grade level.
- Assist with the planning and implemention of professional development.
- Oversee student discipline for a designated grade level.
- Member of Building Committees and District Committees as assigned by the principal.
- Assist in the collection, analysis, and utilization of building specific data to drive instructional change.
- Assist teachers with the MTSS process for stuggling students.
- Assist the Foundations Team in implementing a school-wide student discipline system that results in positive student behavior.
- Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
- Assist in implementing and evaluating the school improvement plan based on the KESA requirements
- General supervisory duties of the building at all times, including staff, students, and care of the building.
- All other duties as assigned to effectively address the mission of our school and our district.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 2 times per year.
