Great Lakes Academy is a high performing charter school that opened in 2014. For the 2019-2020 academic year we will be serving students in grades K-6 and will continue grow annually to reach K-8. We are currently seeking a high capacity, fiercely positive, growth oriented IT / Technology & Online Curriculum Manager to begin immediately.

Job Description
A Great Lakes Academy IT / Technology & Online Curriculum Manager will be a part of a team of game-changing educators working to change the face of education on the Southeast Side of Chicago. The IT/Technology & Online Curriculum Manager position is a robust technology centered role at the school that includes both IT oversight, online learning, online testing coordination and data coordination. It is a strategic role charged with the strategy, procurement and upkeep of technology for the entire school building on the one hand, and the strategy and support of online platform implementation across staff on the other.

Job Outputs
  • 100% accuracy and compliance with testing via role as testing coordinator for the school including all online assessments such as NWEA, STEP and IAR
  • Clear IT & technology vision for the school that is realized through hardware and software choices and a staff professional development plan to maximize the IT of the school and efficiency of staff
  • Increased utilization of and effectiveness of online learning platforms in classrooms
  • Realization of efficiencies across team due to increased proficiency with current and new online platforms for student learning and student information
  • Is considered the go-to master of all school online platforms and technology needs
  • Coordinates professional development and staff support of the school's online platforms including student learning platforms and student information platforms.
  • Maintains a coherent dashboard of school's data through a variety of sources
  • Job Responsibilities

  • Supports the E-Rate selection and reimbursement process with CAO
  • Coordinates school-wide data collection and modeling
  • Coordinates all online assessments from NWEA to ACCESS
  • Develops a strong relationship with, and contributes to the development of, fellow teachers; collaborates with all staff members across team, grade level and experience to build their online technology use in the classroom
  • Writes and delivers enrichment lessons to increase student computer science mastery in the middle school.
  • Provides meaningful professional development and support to teachers to increase the online learning platform effectiveness in classrooms including the implementation of google classroom, Khan Academy, Zearn, St. Math, KWT, Illuminate, DeansList and more

  • Competencies
  • Strong IT knowledge and ability to maximize school's technology efficiencies
  • Ability to set up computers, chromebooks for staff and students and do basic troubleshooting
  • Able to set up and maintain efficient student accounts across platforms
  • Google suite and google classroom expert
  • Ability to set up school firewalls, networks, and online platforms and trouble-shoot
  • Strong relationship builder with students, families, and other staff members
  • Critical thinker with ability to analyze data and adjust plans to improve student achievement
  • Growth mindset and ability to accept and implement feedback
  • Ability to work collaboratively and without ego
  • Willingness to place student achievement as highest goal
  • Self-reflective, with a drive to continually grow as a professional
  • Willingness to work hard and the flexibility to work through start-up challenges
  • Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Teaching or staff experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred, but not required
  • Belief in and alignment with Great Lakes Academy's core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
  • Demonstrated experience in technology lifecycle management and/or leveraging effective break/fix models
