ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Conifer High School, which opened in 1996, serves the foothills and southwest mountain area. Our 9th - 12th grade students come from not only Conifer, but from parts of Evergreen, Morrison, Littleton, Pine, Deckers, and Bailey. Total enrollment for the 2018-19 school year is 852. We have 49 certified staff, with 67% having advanced degrees.

Conifer High School offers many different classes in 11 subject areas. Our AP (Advanced Placement ? 22 courses) and Honors Programs continue to grow and provide challenge and rigor to our students? academic needs. To ensure our students' successes, CHS offers many support systems, such as the Learning Center, Guided Study Halls, Targeted Seminars and other programs that provide students of all levels with additional academic assistance. Conifer is ranked a top 5 neighborhood school by the Washington Post.

Accomplishments of our students over the past couple years include: 4 Academy appointments, 2 Boettcher Scholars, 1 Daniel's Fund Scholar, 3 Ivy League Acceptances, 2 Conservatory Acceptances, and National Merit Finalists. 96.5% students entered 4 and 2 year college with over five million earned in scholarship money.

Conifer students are very involved in athletics and extracurricular activities. We have 22 sports teams, and over 25 clubs/activities. Our mountain bike team, DECA and HOSA programs have combined over 100 members, regularly qualify a number of student for regional and state competitions each year. We also have a strong fine arts program with incredible plays, art shows, musicals and instrumental music performances throughout the year. Community service is also a strong component of the Conifer tradition. Typically, about 25% of the senior class are recognized at graduation for having completed over 200 hours of community service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY: Responsible for the delivery of specified course content. Responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Orient students to their coursework and communicate course requirements.

- Employ asynchronous and synchronous tools to supplement course content.

- Create and deliver live and recorded instructional sessions.

- Maintain regular office hours to provide students or parents one-on-one and small group support.

- Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.

- Partner with special education staff to implement student's IEP's, ALP's and 504's.

- Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions.

- Attend face-to-face meetings with students and parent/guardian, as scheduled.

- Grade student work, enter grades into an online gradebook, and provide course grade.

- Communicate with parents as needed.

- Collaborate with other instructional staff.

- Administer school-wide assessments including CMAS, SAT/PSAT, and MAP.

- Conduct student/parent/teacher conferences.

- Attend (virtual and physical) and actively participate in all required staff meetings and professional development.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE A minimum of five years successful teaching experience. Experience with curriculum, assessment, staff development, and online learning. Experience with effective use of technology with teachers and/or students supporting educational technology initiatives. Awareness, understanding, and application of a guaranteed and viable curriculum. Previous experience or current thinking about culturally responsive teaching that relates to achievement issues for all students. Demonstrated success using technology to ensure technological literate students.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Valid Colorado teaching license or certificate. Advanced degree or comparable experience in content area.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Must possess demonstrated skills in classroom and online implementation of best practices in instructional strategies, demonstrated success in working with learners, proficiency with Blackboard, and experience with leading online learning. Demonstrated leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of standard District technology, ability to effectively and efficiently use for a variety of purposes, and demonstrated success in using technology and information literacy in instruction. Willingness to learn new technology. Ability to help others make sense of and adjust to change. Must be flexible and have capacity for dealing with ambiguity. Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability in interpreting assessment data collected from a variety of sources. Willingness to be a contributing member of the school.
