    Principal - Fairview-Clifton German Language School (preschool-gr 6)

    The Cincinnati Public Schools is seeking an outstanding, visionary instructional leader who possesses strong educational leadership skills to work closely with staff, parents and community in support of Fairview School.

    Qualifications

    Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited University
    Valid Ohio Principals License
    Minimum of three (3) years classroom teaching experience and/or administrative experience

    General Responsibilities

    The position is responsible for leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program, curriculum, and operation.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the administration and supervision of all programs in a school; superior skill in oral and written communications; ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district administration, parents, students, teachers, support staff and community members.

    Essential Tasks
    • Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program for the school.
    • Provide and/or facilitate training of staff with regard to the most effective practices which lead to higher student achievement regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or prior academic achievement.
    • Analyze and interpret school-level data; work with staff to develop School Improvement Plans that contain strategies to improve student learning.
    • Interpret and implement Board policies and administrative regulations.
    • Lead diverse staff, student body, and the community in development and implementation of building-level goals focused on the improvement of student learning.
    • Lead staff in development and implementation of District and building-level goals relating to cultural competency and student learning.
    • Set building-level priorities in the context of community and District priorities and student/staff needs.
    • Establish a school climate which promotes equal opportunities for all students, good conduct, and positive attitudes and values, and accept responsibility for the attendance, conduct, health, and safety of students.
    • Participate in the screening, selection, orientation, training, assignment, and reassignment of culturally competent and diverse school staff.
    • Supervise and evaluate the performance of all assigned personnel and engage staff in the development of professional growth activities designed to support individual school/District goals and programs in order to improve student learning.
    • Assist in the development, ongoing improvement, and implementation of the District and school curricular program.
    • Establish a set of culturally responsive standard operating procedures, practices, and routines.
    • Oversee the school's extracurricular program.
    • Supervise the maintenance and operation of the building, grounds, and property assigned to the building.
    • Plan and develop the school's budget with input from staff, allocate and adjust fiscal and material resources, assure timely completion of reports, and record maintenance for all school programs.
    • Provide for effective staff communication; collaborate and resolve conflicts with others.
    • Work cooperatively with other administrators; advise academic manager and other appropriate District administrators of progress, problems, and other information regarding the school's program.
    • Demonstrate success in curriculum and instruction at the position's grade level.
    • Exhibit an understanding of a culturally responsive instructional process and a variety of instructional techniques, as well as a commitment to the improvement of instructional programs.
    • Display success in leading the improvement of student learning, as evidenced by the improvement of school-based and/or District-based data points.
    • Exhibit successful and culturally responsive leadership experiences in staff leadership, supervision, and evaluation.
    • Model the ability to work effectively with teachers to improve instruction.
    • Demonstrate ability and desire to establish positive relationships with persons regardless of race, gender, physical limitation, sexual orientation, or religious belief, with an active commitment to equal opportunity for all students and staff.
    • Demonstrate ability to foster an environment that focuses on quality results while motivating, developing, and supporting a diverse staff, encouraging continuous improvement, and working effectively as a member of a diverse team.

    • Demonstrate understanding of the change process and its relationship to current trends in education at the position's grade level.

    • Demonstrate effectiveness in using computer technologies to enhance instruction and to manage building functions.
    • Demonstrate success in exercising good judgment, insight, self-awareness, integrity, and cultural responsiveness when interacting with diverse employees, students, and patrons.
    • Demonstrate commitment and ability to continue one's own lifelong learning, to develop talent and leadership skills in others, to provide critical feedback, and to receive critical feedback in order to maintain high standards for one's self and one's school.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with the ability to make clear, persuasive presentations to diverse groups.
    • Demonstrate success incorporating culturally competent strategies and utilizing culturally responsive communication and engagement strategies with all members of the school community.
    • Demonstrate effectiveness representing the school in the community through business partnerships and activities
    • Maintain and model high standards of professionalism.
    • Perform related work as assigned


    CONTRACT PROVISIONS
    Type of Contract: Principal
    Salary: per CAAS Agreement
    Principals will be placed in the level equal to their years of leadership as Principal and other salary differentials, if applicable.
