ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Warren Tech is the premier Career and Technical Education (CTE) center for Jefferson County Public Schools. An educational and technological leader, Warren Tech integrates academics in career and technical education, preparing students for both college and career. Warren Tech students are engaged and committed to their programs, which is evidenced by a 93% attendance rate, 96% graduation rate, and a 97% program completion rate. Virtually all programs offer academic credit in 11th or 12th grade math, science, and English, which counts toward their graduation. AP coursework is also offered by some programs. Another hallmark of Warren Tech's success is the college credit awarded to our students each year. Last year, our students earned nearly 13,000 Red Rocks Community College credits. A large number of students attend colleges and universities after finishing Warren Tech, and some students have even earned an Associate's degree in a Warren Tech program before they finish high school. Warren Tech students also earn industry certifications through their coursework and participate in client work, internships, and job shadows with industry partners. Introduction to Medical Assisting Instructor
Job Description

I. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Must have a minimum of 4,000 hours of verified paid occupational experience within healthcare over the last five years
B. Minimum of an Associate's degree in Medical Assisting
C. Must hold or be eligible to receive a valid Secondary CTE Health Science Technology credential (requirements can be found on the CDE website)

Warren Tech Administration

III. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructor will provide an introduction to healthcare and medical assisting curriculum to high school students, which includes:

• A variety of basic and routine patient care, including taking health histories and vital signs
• Preparing exam and treatment rooms
• Instruction of examination and diagnostic treatment room procedures
• Instruction in medical documentation
• Instruction of medical office skills, such as booking appointments, filing, answering phones, maintenance of medical records, etc.
• Instruction of medical terminology
• Instruction in Anatomy and Physiology as it relates to healthcare with the assistance of a Science Instructional Coach
• Instruction of law and ethics for the healthcare professional
• Functioning as an instructor in a classroom, clinical, or supervised field setting
• Preparing tests, class projects and case studies; grades papers, averages grades, prepares grade reports, and coordinates make-up tests and assignments
• Preparing lesson plans, prepares lectures, assists with development and implementation of course syllabus and curriculum
• Selecting textbooks, videos, Internet activities and gathers outside project materials
• Preparing attendance reports and administers attendance policy per Jeffco School policy
• Providing timely written or verbal communication to all stakeholders, including students, parents/guardians, administration, local agencies, Red Rocks Community College, and other staff members
• Providing leadership for mandatory student organization
• Ensuring compliance with district and school policies
• Maintaining an overall safe and clean training environment
• Compiling, preparing, and maintaining accurate and complex records and reports
• Handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously
• Employing current technology skills that includes but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Performing additional duties as assigned. This may include, but is not limited to, clinical supervision of students and participation in after-school activities and leadership conferences/trainings

Physical Requirements:
• Tasks will require frequent sitting, standing or walking, and may include extended periods of time sitting at a keyboard or standing in a classroom or clinical setting.
• Tasks may involve the lifting of persons (patients) or items of various weights in a teaching setting.
• Tasks require dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of all equipment related to nurse aide skills or office equipment.

Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $40,989 - $57,654

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY: Responsible for the delivery of specified course content. Responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Orient students to their coursework and communicate course requirements.

- Employ asynchronous and synchronous tools to supplement course content.

- Create and deliver live and recorded instructional sessions.

- Maintain regular office hours to provide students or parents one-on-one and small group support.

- Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.

- Partner with special education staff to implement student's IEP's, ALP's and 504's.

- Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions.

- Attend face-to-face meetings with students and parent/guardian, as scheduled.

- Grade student work, enter grades into an online gradebook, and provide course grade.

- Communicate with parents as needed.

- Collaborate with other instructional staff.

- Conduct student/parent/teacher conferences.

- Attend (virtual and physical) and actively participate in all required staff meetings and professional development.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
