The primary function of this position is the responsibility for the social and emotional wellness of the students in gifted center programs. Must be familiar with the unique social/emotional needs and characteristics of a gifted learner. Must be familiar with RTI and MTSS and be equipped to support students in Tier 1, 2 and 3 interventions at multiple GT Center campuses. This support includes but is not limited to one-on-one support, small group work, classroom lessons, teacher support and collaborative problem solving with both prevention and intervention models. The ideal candidate will have experience or flexibility in working with all levels K-12. Looking for a team player who can work collaboratively in our cohesive GT department as well as balance district and school expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
    Effective communicator with demonstrated skills in team building, conflict resolution, decision making, time management, and facilitation of psycho-educational counseling groups.
    Collaborate with school leadership to address social/emotional wellness in the GT center program.
    Manage multiple school settings while integrating GT counseling into schoolwide social/emotional support.
    Expertise in working with extreme behaviors in classroom settings, including an understanding of twice exceptional students
    Passionate about working directly with students to teach skills and strategies that will help them be successful in life.
    Develop and maintain relationships with all stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, and administration.
    Deliver professional learning, at multiple schools, including facilitating monthly evening parent support groups (Supporting Emotional Needs of Gifted - SENG Groups).
    Understanding and experience with a variety of student support structures including but not limited to: ALP's, 504's and IEP's.
    Serve as a liaison among district buildings, families, and community and collaborate with various teams to assure positive outcomes for all learners.
    Respect for diversity in the home, school, local and global communities.
    Other duties as assigned.


CERTIFICATION: Current School Counselor endorsement on a valid Colorado License or hold current CDE Special Services Provider license with a School Psychologist or School Social Worker endorsement. Candidates must have or be willing to obtain a GT endorsement or equivalent GT training within 2 years. (Much of this training can be provided by the district GT Department.)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EQUIPMENT: Ability to communicate and develop effective relationships and function effectively as a team member. Willingness to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of students, staff, families, schools and the district. Ability to integrate educational theory, research and expertise into appropriate practices for local contexts, in a style that facilitates positive change and continuous improvement. Must have effective group facilitation skills. Ability to use data to make educationally sound decisions. Best practices in Social Emotional Learning. Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports and correspondence; and to use and integrate technology appropriately in daily work which includes, but is not limited to, efficient voice mail systems, application of basic computer skills to effectively use e-mail, internet, word processing.

SPAN OF CONTROL: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

DIVERSITY OF DUTIES: Duties require knowledge of District and school policies/procedures and applicable state/local/federal laws, facility security, child/adolescent behavior, intervention and mediation skills, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Position does not require additional supervision responsibilities outside the regular work day/work week, however, student discipline events and conferences with staff may extend beyond the work day in order to ensure timely conclusion of such matters.
