Essential Functions and Objectives:

The Relay Teacher Resident program is a two year program. The first year is completed as a teacher resident and in the second year a full time teaching position must be attained. This position requires a dedicated educator who advocates with an unwavering commitment to inspire all students to reach the high expectations that help them succeed. Provides support to outstanding academic achievement and student character development.

- Create a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment that excites and invests students as they reach their full potential.

- Build classroom community and relationships with families, participating with the school's team that ensures all students make outstanding academic progress.

- Support individual students through one-on-one tutoring or small group instruction.

- Provide fair, accurate, and constructive feedback to students on their progress

- Support teachers in one or more subject with grading, preparation of class materials and classroom management- taking on more teaching responsibility throughout the year as appropriate.

- Observe high-performing teachers throughout the school.

- Assist classroom teacher in curriculum development to best meet the needs of students.

- Provide regular and often communication with families to both solicit their input and share student social and academic progress.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- A minimum of two years teaching experience highly preferred with a proven record of high student achievement.

- No teaching experience needed.

- Strong instructional and classroom management skills.

- Knowledge of establishing systems and routines in order to create a safe, purposeful, and welcoming classroom environment.

- Demonstrated responsibility for the safety and learning of all students in the school

- Ability to analyze student assessment data and determine next steps.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education Requirements & Licensure:

- Bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 from an accredited and competitive college or university.

- Must apply and be committed to RELAY graduate school of education, teacher preparation program
