NWEA is looking for a Sr. UX Designer to join our team. This individual will be working with teachers on how are product is used in the classroom as well as the internal engineering team to determine the best possible experience for our products.
Position Summary

The Senior User Experience Designer is responsible for leading the design of a user interface strategy and an intuitive user experience that satisfies the business and user requirements. The Senior User Experience Designer will use proven User Centered Design methodologies to identify and define targeted audience segments their goals tasks and criteria for success. The User Experience Designer II is also responsible for organizing content into user centric categories and creating a navigational structure and interface requirements to support the task and information needs of end users. The Senior User Experience Designer provides mentorship guidance and oversight of the day to day work produced by the User Experience Designer role.

Responsibilities

Leads the design of user interfaces and user experiences in accordance with best practices,
Universal design and accessibility concepts.
Leads the design and development of an intuitive user experience that satisfies the business
and user requirements.
Works closely with business analysts, product managers and client user groups to ensure that user experience requirements and objectives are met.
Collaborates with the Product Engineering team to ensure that the user interface design works with the technical solution, and to propose new designs within technical constraints that still provide a positive user experience.
Create user experience work products and deliverables for projects.
Teaches and mentor others in user experience process and practice.
Teaches and mentors lower level User Experience Designers in using industry best practice and the latest concepts and designs.
Helps manage the day to day work flow of lower level User Experience Designers. Serves as a mentor and guide, answering and helping manage complex issues that may arise
Perform heuristic and comparative analysis, planning and conducting user experience workshops and interviews, the development of user profiles or personas, creation of site maps, development of wireframes, navigational flow or pathways that users will follow throughout the Web site or application, writing of UI Design Specifications, and participating in usability testing efforts.
Develops the user experience strategy, selecting and managing tools, and integrating user experience design into the product lifecycle.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the entire organization

Ability to conceptualize the abstract and manufacture the concrete
Ability to create simple and intuitive solutions to complex problems.
Creative ability to envision and articulate the user experience
Ability to work with partners and internal experts to develop user personas and
Expert knowledge of Internet functionality and comparative browser features
Working knowledge of HTML and other Web technologies (e.g.CSS, JavaScript, others are a plus
Advanced knowledge of best practices in usability as it applies to Web sites and on-line applications
Superior facilitation, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Logic and analytical skills
Proven leadership skills
Must be able to perform the physical and intellectual requirements of the role, with or without accommodation

Education and experience

Minimum Bachelors Degree in HCI, Human Factors, Information Design, Web Design or related field, or comparable experience in the Industry
Three to five years experience in documenting and creating interactive solutions to meet the clients business requirements and objectives (provide portfolio of implemented user designs)
Three to five years of exhibited knowledge in developing products or systems, or comparable education.
Two to three years experience leading the designs of one or more complex application(s) or services
Knowledge of accessibility and accommodation requirements related to User Interface development preferred
