Job Summary
The Security/Emergency Preparedness Specialist is responsible for coordinating CCTV, AWARN, and Milestone system support. Working with the Director of Security and Emergency Preparedness, the specialist develops departmental financial, budgetary, and approved communications. The position maintains department data for required reporting and sets-up and coordinates presentations and trainings. The specialist also conducts special projects with Maintenance & Operations employees. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) and is represented by the Anchorage Council of Education bargaining unit.

Job Requirements
The following are required:
  1. A bachelor's degree in business management, business administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.Prior experience writing technical documentation, procedures, and workflows for end users.The successful candidate must possess a valid Alaska driver's license and have an available vehicle for travel to schools throughout the Anchorage School District.

The following are preferred:
  1. Working knowledge of and experience with Milestone and IFAS.Experience working with closed-circuit television (CCTV) software, computers, and related technology.Experience developing, conducting, and documenting training events.Extensive experience with computerized personnel systems.Ability to learn, interpret, and communicate rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Ability to interpret written instructions and accurately prepare data, statistic, and analytics reports.Excellent computer skills with a strong working knowledge of both Macintosh and Windows operating systems.Knowledgeable of general office procedures and responsibilities.Ability to prepare accurate schedules, outlines, materials, and reports.Ability to maintain website content.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Functions as primary staff contact for access control, Milestone and Security Surveillance duties and responsibilities as designated by Director and/or Security Technology Specialist.Conducts AWARN emergency radio checks in collaboration with ASD school sites as part of the Emergency Preparedness initiative.Conducts annual inspection of all ASD emergency shelter sites and manages all associated responsibilities: maintains updated lists of emergency supplies, facilitates work orders with Maintenance and Operations and Key Shop, works with department leadership to ensure compliance, preparing inspection reports for each shelter site and coordinating the purchase of expired/new inventory supplies.Responsible for the following duties of the Camper Hosts Program: reviewing, responding, approving and processing submitted applications, to include conducting federal/state background checks of all applicants, managing budget, and maintaining invoices and receiving records for cash transactions.Manages and maintains department data and submits mandatory District, state, and federal reports.Collaborates with the Security Technology Specialist to extract pertinent surveillance footage and data, maintaining confidentiality at all times.Collaborates with the Security Technology Specialist to troubleshoot technical issues of the district's camera systems.Partners with the Security Technology Specialist on special projects.Collaborates with the Director in the development and management of budgetary responsibilities, such as preparation and submission of annual budget proposal, budget management, p-card purchasing and reconciliation, mileage reimbursement, travel and purchase requests.Exercises independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.Functions as a resource for principals and school site users on CCTV and/or radio issues.Collaborates with Security Technology Specialist in CCTV planning and security related issues for ASD facilities.May develop and or deliver relevant safety trainings.Participates in periodic training for Milestone software.Participates in periodic training for District-wide security camera repair.Maintains and updates information and content on departmental website.Maintains cost records, employee scheduling, statistical records, updates information and content on departmental website.Coordinates meetings, activities, workshops, and presentationsPossesses exceptional organizational and written/oral communication skills.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work to include students, employees, and the general public.Possesses a valid Alaska driver's license and has an available vehicle for travel to schools throughout the Anchorage School District.

Physical/Mental Demands
The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to communicate by oral and written means in an appropriate business manner and have cognitive skills to understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.
