The Head of School acts as chief administrator for K12 managed school(s); implements the schools' strategies and budgets; oversees the implementation of marketing and enrollment initiatives and ensures compliance with the requirements of federal, State and local agencies. At all times, the incumbent exemplifies the qualities associated with academic leadership and professionalism; uses data to drive academic decision-making; and ensures instruction is targeted to meet students' individual needs.
AS head of school, YOU WILL ...
    • Provide leadership exhibiting professionalism and high academic standards that celebrate student and staff achievements;
    • Work with Board of Directors acting as chief administrator of one or more schools; manage regulatory complexities and political sensitivities; implement the school's mission, vision, and strategic planning initiatives;
    • Develop plans and policies for the educational program and submit them to Board(s) of Directors for approval; ensure policies and programs are carried out appropriately by all students, parents, and staff;
    • Consult with legal team, the Board(s) of Directors, and Human Resources to appropriately handle any legal issues; ensure compliance with all local, State , and federal laws;
    • Communicate school budget decisions to Board of Directors and other stakeholders, and oversee the local implementation of the budget;
    • Oversee implementation of the school marketing and enrollment plans to achieve and maintain enrollment capa
      city;
    • Serve as public relations liaison with the school community; engage community and civic groups to support school programs and the school community;
    • Work closely with government affairs team to support and advance the online educational movement within the State ;
    • Ensure school program are in alignment with authorizing agency requirements;
    • Effectively recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified staff; develop effective staff members through an ongoing evaluation process and professional development;
    • Create and foster a positive school culture by involving school staff, community leaders, students and parents;
    • Serve as the school's instructional leader and ensure data is being used to drive all academic decisions;
    • Ensure teaching staff utilizes the appropriate curriculum, effective assessments, and targeted instruction to meet the individual needs of each student.
      Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise 5+ full-time equivalent (FTE) employees and/or contractors. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Requirements
Minimum required Qualifications
  • Master's degree AND
  • Five (5) years of school administration experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Valid appropriate State administrative license if required.

  • Ability to manage a large staff with multiple departments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel; Database and Web proficiency
  • Ability to pass required background check

  • Charter school experience including understanding of State charter regulations as they relate to school operations
