Salary: $25.50/hr

Job Summary:
  • This position will focus on students' academic development, career development, and personal/social development by monitoring students as they work on PLATO computer based courses. Instructor focuses on motivating students to complete lessons and courses to progress toward graduation. Instructor will engage with students as an academic coach to facilitate instruction. Instructor manages PLATO online learning administrative site, assigning courses, monitoring student progress daily, and grading online assignments. Instructor will set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for students to follow. Instructor acts as a role model and mentor for students.

Description:
  • Work with and motivate At-Risk youth and move students forward to earn credits.
  • Review student progress and develop daily objectives and goals for groups and individuals.
  • Manage the PLATO online curriculum monitoring students' online activity and assessing student work by checking quizzes and tests and providing daily feedback for up to 60 students.
  • Work with counselor to determine and assign correct courses for students
  • Provide opportunities when needed for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Work with Principal, counselor, and staff to develop individual interventions that will enhance student understanding and output.
  • Create monthly reports displaying student progress, lessons completed, credits earned, average grades, etc.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping student's solve health, attitude and learning problems.
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
  • Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Colorado teacher's license or a 3-year substitute authorization.
  • Bachelor's Degree. Special experience and training as determined by content area. Strong mathematics experience and knowledge preferred.
  • Good organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with and motivate At-Risk youth .
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders within the school environment.
  • Knowledge of classroom management and conflict resolution.
  • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
