    Position Type: Principal for Pueblo City Schools

    Description:
    Pueblo City Schools is seeking bold leaders that are willing to take certain bold actions, that enable them to set high expectations for increasing student achievement that lead to dramatic gains. These actions lead to a continuous cycle of planning based on data, implementing plans through effective communication and visionary leadership, monitoring to ensure actions are getting the desired results, and changing approaches as necessary. The Principal of Pueblo Academy of Arts will serve the innovation zone school to support the collaborative development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the school's innovation plan. The Principal of Pueblo Academy of Arts will provide professional leadership to organize, administer, supervise, and evaluate an innovative school program. The Principal of Pueblo Academy of Arts will develop and maintain an effective educational program for the evaluation and improvement of instruction to ensure maximum educational benefits for students. The Principal of Pueblo Academy of Arts will have a direct impact on the quality of instruction through the observation feedback process, educator evaluation, Professional Learning Communities (PLC), data driven instruction, school culture, and the teaching and learning cycle.

    Salary Range: $86,300 - $101,800

    Required Qualifications:
    Please note: You must submit a cover letter with your application which specifically addresses how you meet the following qualifications for this position citing specific examples.
    • Valid Colorado Principal License or eligible for within 60 days from date of hire
    • Master's Degree
    • 3-5 years successful teaching or leadership experience

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Valid Colorado Teaching License
    • Previous principal experience or assistant principal experience
    • Knowledge of Innovation as an Accountability Pathway
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with elementary academic content standards, assessment, and professional development
    • Experience working with a diverse population or experience in leading a school reform effort or turnaround
    • Completion of advanced coursework or specific experience in one or more of the following areas: Math, Literacy, Diverse Learner, or Exceptional Student Services
    • Knowledge of and experience with the observation feedback cycle or demonstrated experience as an instructional coach
    • Knowledge of and experience in Intergrated Arts

    Job Expectations:
    • Successful implementation and development of Integrated Arts within teaching and learning models across the 6-8 continuum
    • Work in collaboration with the Executive Director of Innovation and Continuous Improvement to support the vision and mission of the Innovation Zone and to ensure the fidelity of implementation of the Innovation educational program model of instruction
    • Work collaboratively with Innovation Zone Leaders to develop and implement an instructional framework that aligns curriculum with state standards, effective instructional practices, student learning needs and assessments
    • Serve on a multi-disciplinary team to assess and facilitate a school climate that supports student engagement in learning and generates high expectations for learning growth by all students through creating and monitoring a responsive, culturally relevant annual implementation plan
    • Coordinate intensive individual student behavior and academic plans, coach teachers to implement classroom management systems and positive behavior interventions.
    • Work with teachers to improve their teaching practice through coaching, professional development, modeling and collaborative planning
    • Lead collaborative teams of students, staff, families, and other stakeholders to realize zone initiatives and serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, and the community.
    • Conduct evaluations of certified and classified staff and utilize the teacher evaluation process to improve instruction that will increase student achievement
    • Use multiple data sources to make sound instructional decisions; train and support the staff in the use of the data driven instructional model that communicates the relationships among academic standards, effective instruction and student performance
    • Recruit, select and hire school staff including teachers and school-based support staff
    • Serve as an instructional leader that provides instructional staff with specific feedback and job-embedded coaching to increase the quality of instruction through the use of the observation feedback cycle.
    • Monitor and provide support for the Exceptional Student Services process and ensure effective implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support
    • Plan, lead and monitor the implementation of professional development that is clearly linked to the system-wide strategic objectives and the Unified School Improvement & Innovation Plan
    • Perform any other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, Superintendent or designee
