PURPOSE OF JOB: To serve as the primary point of contact for all Security Department and Information Security technology support needs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to accurately reflect the essential job functions and responsibilities.
Maintain, repair, and replace all security technology systems and equipment.
Ensure that all information, databases, procedures, passwords, codes and equipment specifications associated with technology systems are secure
Respond to all authorized system malfunctions.
Maintain files and records of work done.
Assists in monitoring security compliance and prepares status reports on security matters.
Adhere to all training prescribed by the technology management.
Administers security policies by monitoring data security profiles, reviewing security violation reports, investigating possible security exceptions.
Updates, maintains, and documents security controls
Assists with policy writing, presentations, security framework and strategy development, and technical writing/documentation
Must have the ability to work harmoniously with outside contractors and other Internal KCPS staff while performing assigned duties.
Proactively investigate and report detected data security alerts (viruses, malware, SPAM, etc.) and escalates events to appropriate Department of Technology staff
Regularly review system configurations and authentication logs to protect data from unauthorized users.
Analyzes systems and applications and recommends security measures to protect information against unauthorized modification or loss.
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong technical skills
The ability to maintain and repair various types of computer and electronic devices
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively to achieve specific objectives
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to assess threats and vulnerabilities in networks and applications
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
3-5 years of experience in installing, administering and monitoring firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention tools, SIEM tools, or other cybersecurity solutions.
Cybersecurity certification from ISC2, SANS, or other leading organization for information security professionals is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This job requires that the employee be able to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands, fingers, and reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least fifty pounds. Job requires the employee occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Visual ability requires mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to use a ladder of lifting device to work inside or outside District facilities at heights of five feet up to or exceeding fifty feet above ground.

Length of work year: 12 months
