JOB TITLE : Resource Teacher, Mathematics - Deep Creek Middle School

REPORTS TO : School principal

DEFINITION : The primary role of the school-based resource teacher is to provide in-house expertise, service, and support in mathematics curriculum implementation for the middle school. Provides a variety of services to include professional development, data analysis, and planning for instruction to support the mathematics program. Performs other duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :
Works collaboratively with the school-based leadership team to analyze data in order to support the mathematics program.

Assists teachers with the implementation of the mathematics instructional program. Assists teachers in developing their understanding of mathematics content.

Works collaboratively with teachers to co-plan, co-teach and model customized lessons based on formative assessment data.

Provides specific, targeted teacher/team support based on School Progress Plans and direction from school administrator.

Models lessons demonstrating research-based instructional strategies and best practices aligned to College and Career Ready Standards for Mathematics and delivered in a blended learner centered environment.

Assists teachers with the preparation of students for success on BCPS and state assessments such as BCPS End of Unit, MAP, and PARCC.

Supports teacher professional growth by providing professional learning aligned with identified teacher and school goals.

Collaborates with staff from the Office of Mathematics PreK-12 to support the implementation of a cohesive mathematics program at the school.

Assists teachers and administrators in adapting mathematics curriculum to meet the needs of a diverse student population.

Maintains personal professional growth in elementary/middle mathematics instructional practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education, Training and Experience :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field related to the assignment, plus three years of successful teaching experience in the area of mathematics, which includes experience in planning and implementing professional development. Master's degree preferred.

Licenses and Certificates :
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Standard Professional Certificate is required.
Middle School Mathematics endorsement, required. Advanced Professional Certificate preferred.
Mathematics Instructional Leader (Grades 4-9 ) endorsement, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Strong elementary/middle mathematics content. Knowledge of effective instructional practices in elementary/middle mathematics; demonstration of strong communication and human relations skills; demonstration of effective organization and communication skills; demonstration of strong computer/technology skills.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
The work of the Advanced Academics Education Resource Teacher is performed in both office and classroom environments. In the office, work includes the operation of office equipment and personal computers. In the classroom, work involves instructional practice and interactions with students, staff.

Eligible for membership in the Maryland State Retirement System.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $81.00 An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
