Role Mission: The Vice President of Region & School Launch (VP) manages the IDEA experience beyond the classroom, from the moment a student sets foot at our schools until a student walks the stage at graduation. The VP works to minimize (or eliminate) operational obstacles that could prevent teachers and school leaders from focusing on instruction. Specifically, the VP is responsible for achieving operational excellence in every new region, as well as managing the growth of existing regions.

Accountabilities

1. Ensures 100% of schools are fully operational by the first day of school
  • Leads IDEA's school launch strategy by developing cross-functional frameworks that result in standardized and replicable processes, implementing these processes consistently and timely across the district, and creating the infrastructure to produce and disseminate best practices to campuses
  • Builds best-in-class school launch tools and mechanisms that generate measureable data for continuous improvement opportunities and meet IDEA's organizat ional needs
  • Ensures 100% of textbooks are distributed, 100% of furniture is installed, 100% of retail locations have uniform inventory, and 100% of HVAC units are functional two weeks before the first day of school


2. Leads schools in operation goals in accordance with IDEA's growth plans (9 7 schools in operation for the 19 - 20 school year)
  • Manages all construction- related projects (new, 2 nd phase, existing school facility improvement and expansion, and installation of modular units) to deliver, timely, quality, cost-effective facilities in tim e for school openings each year
  • Directs capital expenditure ( CapEx ) facility improvement efforts from approval to execution , by working with regional and school level personnel to conduct master planning, identify projects, determine costs, and manage the construction process
  • Works with the Business Office to identify funding s ources for all new construction
  • Responsible for managing all Beginning of Year (BOY) efforts to ensure all schools are set up for suc cess by the first day of school


3. 90% New Family Persistence
  • Achieve a n average satisfaction rating of 3.6 on the BOY Staff Survey
    • Oversee the development of beginning of year scorecards that define an excellent experience for staff members during the beginning of year
  • Ensure high quality training of all operations staff to develop high-quality plans of execution that ensure an excellent experience for campus staff during the beginning of year
  • Refine beginning of year tools that, when followed, ensure an excellent beginning of year experience for campus staff
  • Parents rate their BOY experience as 90% proficient|30% exceptional
  • Work with HQ functional departments to define high quality BOY plans that are used by launching schools
  • Lead BOY professional development for Assistant Principals of Operations, Principals , and functional leaders

4. Ensures top performers occupy every seat (85% Staff Retention Rate in Facilities, Year 0 campus ops staff, and new RDOs and APOs)
  • Establishes hiring practices to attract top performers for every role
  • Customizes onboarding practices to ensure each new team member is set up for success based on the unique responsibilities of their role
  • Develops and executes differentiated professional development , to build technical capacity and leadership and management acumen


5. 100% of new regions are community-entry ready with identified land to acquire and population surveys completed
  • Works with advancement team, regional leaders, and local brokers to identify sites for new potential IDEA schools in line with budget parameters, land specifications, and regional growth plans
  • All land for new sites is under contract by November 30 of their year 0
  • Partners with the Student Enrollment team to complete population density studies in order to inform high impact recruitment strategies to support e nrollment and persistence goals

  • Manages Facilities & Construction and School Launch departments and personnel


Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree in applicable field preferred
  • Experience: 8+ years of full-time professional experience required; 3+ years of full-time people management required; experience managing managers strongly preferred
  • Experience in public education, especially charter schools preferred


Compensation:
  • Salaries for this role typically fall between $102,330 and $136,445 , commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
