Title: Teacher, Virtual Learning (Spanish)

Position Summary:

The Virtual Learning Teacher can think outside the box and thrives on change and challenges; The incumbent in this position provides instruction in online and blended learning environments that enables students to learn and demonstrate mastery of the Georgia Performance Standards. The Virtual Learning Teacher has an unconditional commitment to the success of students; Motivates students in a distance learning environment and is willing to be flexible and help them become self-disciplined and effective time managers. Patience and an aptitude for helping students and parents transition to an online learning environment is a must. Instructors must be confident in the efficacy of online learning and must feel comfortable working in a student-centered setting and utilize effective techniques for this environment. The incumbent in this position will be expected to provide instruction for 140-180 students and work a minimum 40-hour workweek, as is comparable to the workload for a classroom teacher.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on Fulton County's curriculum in online and blended learning environmentsPlans, prepares, and implements instructional activities that engage students in meaningful and active learning experiencesDemonstrates knowledge of effective online pedagogiesInteracts with students in asynchronous and synchronous online activities along with Blended Learning face-to-face sessionsAdapts to changing teaching demands driven by students' needsGrades work and posts grades in a timely mannerCommunicates regularly to parents and students about academic progressDedicates the appropriate amount of time daily to supporting students and providing positive, constructive and timely feedbackCollaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environmentParticipates in and contributes to the Fulton County virtual learning professional learning communityWorks independently with little direct supervisionDemonstrates gains in student performance and achievementMaintains a professional environment conductive to learning at all timesFollows all county, state, and federal policies and proceduresFollows professional ethics in all work-related activitiesDemonstrates a flexible, adaptive, and responsive approach to the needs of FCS and the students, educators, school organizations, and communities that it servesMeets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in effective and timely manner, and demonstrates respect for othersConveys a positive and professional image to co-workers, students and parentsEngages in continual learning to deepen knowledge of current and emerging technologiesPrepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absentWorks with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student's educational programFacilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communicationsAvoids behaviors which detract from staff moralePerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator


Education and Experience:
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited university required, Master's Degree in Instructional Technology/Virtual Learning preferred


Experience:

  • Minimum of three years as an innovative classroom teacher that successfully integrated the use of virtual/blended/personalized learning technologies to enhance student learning with demonstrable resultsrequired

Certification:
  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certification in applicable field required, or must be eligible to hold a valid Georgia Teaching CertificateOnline Teaching Certification and/or Online Teacher Badges (e.g.www.openteachertraining.org) preferred

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with standards-based instruction and assessment best practicesAbility to travel to individual Fulton County schools/buildings for face to face trainings and student help sessionsKnowledge and use of a rich array of instructional practices/strategiesKnowledge of technologies available for use in a blended or virtual instructional settingExperience with curriculum developmentDemonstrated knowledge in differentiation and meeting the needs of varied learnersAbility to work with collaborative teamsAbility to think creatively and implement innovative ideasAbility to use and develop online resources to support instructionStrong decision-making and problem-solving skillsStrong instructional technology skills, including productivity software and web-based resourcesMust be able to determine scope of work necessary to complete self-directed projects and successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilitiesExcellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent communication skills both orally and in writing

Working Conditions:
  • Flexible work environment that will require some travel between FCS schools/buildingsMay work at alternate work site/telecommute when performing some dutiesWork schedule will be influenced by the needs of the students and must be flexible

Salary Information:

Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience and education calculations from the Teacher Salary Schedule (190 Days)
