For the 2019-2020 school year, we will employ over 50 staff members and serve almost 500 students in grades 4-11. In the spring of 2021, we will graduate our first class of 12th graders.

Responsibilities
  • Role is designed as a 1-year bridge for a new teacher who wants to hone their craft before taking on full classroom teaching responsibilities; the role would involve a partnership with Relay Graduate School of Education and participating in their Residency program (via a placement at our school)
  • Lead classroom lessons or portions of lessons weekly, utilizing rigorous content and high expectations, with the support of a coach/lead instructor
  • Work with the coach/lead instructor to develop strong long term, unit, and lesson planning skills and strong data analysis skills
  • Help with general teacher duties including attendance, grading, lesson creation, etc. 
  • Fill in for absent teachers when needed.
Requirements
  • Hold at least a Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrate success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally underserved students, particularly in urban schools.
  • Have an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic levels, regardless of demographics.
  • Operate with a strong work ethic and a passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission -driven school culture.
  • Ability to be solutions oriented and approach each day with a sense of possibility.
  • Desire to become a better teacher by joining the Chicago Collegiate family.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Be prepared to do whatever it takes for students to excel on their journey to and through college, including communicating with students and families regularly via school provided cell phone.
  • Operate with a growth mindset and commit to ongoing professional and personal growth in a collaborative environment.
  • Work well on a trailblazing team, which will continue to expand until the school serves 4-12th graders in the far South Side of Chicago.
  • Have a passion for innovating your instructional practice by using personalized learning and small group instruction.

Nice-To-Haves
  • Current and valid Illinois teacher certification.
