Position Summary:

The Manager will guide students and alumni successfully through the postsecondary transition and direct and indirect provide support to Mastery alumni at the Community College of Philadelphia and Camden County College. The Manager will create and implement strategies and policies for serving alumni at these institutions including: data collection and analysis of alumni college performance, direct advisement and coaching, and liaising with the colleges' support systems on campuses. The Manager will ideally be experienced in the fields of college access and/or retention who excels at coaching young folks, both 1-1 and in groups, from setting goals through execution of the goals. The ideal candidate will be willing to do "Whatever it Takes" to support our students/alumni in the process from matriculation through credential attainment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Co-develop and manage a comprehensive alumni support program at the Community College of Philadelphia and Camden County College to promote alumni enrollment, persistence, associate's degree completion, and matriculation to 4-year institutions or workforce entry

Work closely with alumni who are struggling to matriculate or persist in higher education by providing hands-on mentoring support and connecting them with the appropriate supports

Create CCP and CCC specific alumni events and programs as well as support system-wide K-12 Postsecondary Initiatives events

Support the management and maintenance of a Mastery alumni database integrating data from other systems

Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data on alumni performance

Co-create reports and resources on college persistence data and trends for Postsecondary Team

Use innovative approaches such as video, social media and blogging to document alumni experiences that can promote college-completion culture in K-12 schools.

Recruit, on-board, and manage the Mastery Peer Coaches at CCP and CCC

Build relationships with university student life programs to facilitate Mastery alums effective use of support services to maintain high persistence and retention rates.

Qualifications:

General knowledge of college counseling and college retention programs including financial aid, transfer processes, matriculation challenges and other barriers faced by low-income, first-generation college students and/or community college students;

Comfort and demonstrated ability to successfully facilitate and engage various size groups;

Exceptional organization skills - a detail-oriented approach to multi-task and meet deadlines under pressure;

Strong proficiency with database systems - start-up and ongoing support/maintenance;

Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports as well as analyze data

Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills both orally and in writing with ability to effectively connect with broad range of constituents including alumni, their families, secondary and post-secondary school staff/leaders;

Track-record of high achievement (premium placed on experience in urban communities and schools);

Personal drive and commitment to serve urban youth;

Deep belief in one's own ability to significantly increase college going, persistence and graduation rates for Mastery alums;

Ability to effectively work alone and with a high-performing, mission-driven staff;

Demonstrated resilience to persevere and turn challenges into opportunities while meeting aggressive goals despite limited resources;

Ability to be a self-starter and creative problem solver while also being a quick learner who is willing to ask questions and seek feedback.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree required, with at least two (2) years of experience working with urban youth;

Previous experience in college access, counseling and/or college retention, at least one (1) year of experience is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in office space- filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; Must be able to sit for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard, mouse and typing; Able to travel via car for off-site college visits and meetings.

Other Requirements:

Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for local/state-wide traveling requirements; 10-25% of travel required with heavy travel requirements during peak seasons of the year.
