Phalen Leadership Academies is now accepting qualified, committed candidates for our High School ESL Teacher vacancy for the 2019/2020 school year!
The High School ESL Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that promotes and nurtures the education of students by helping scholars develop linguistic and cultural competence to participate fully in the classroom; planning and customizing courses of study; monitoring, assisting with, and correcting, academic efforts; providing a safe environment conducive to learning; keeping lead teachers and parents informed; assist with developing and implementing instructional plans for the purpose of improving scholar proficiency in all subject areas.

REQUIREMENTS
- A passion for working with students and families in under-served communities
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid Indiana State Teacher License
- Modifies lesson plans and lesson materials based on language needs
- Assists with teaching students writing skills and techniques to increase vocabulary in all core subjects
- Tutors scholars in the classroom with coursework; advises students on life skills
- Works with students individually or in groups to faciliate understanding of learning objectives
- Demonstrate organizational and technology skills
