    Title: AVID Site Coordinator (JCHS)

    Qualifications: *Current Kansas Teaching Certificate with endorsement appropriate to the assignment on file in the Devin Center
    *Health certificate on file in Devin Center

    Reports to: Building Principal, Academy Principals

    BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
    The AVID Site Coordinator is responsible for establishing the vision for AVID within the school improvement process, organizing all resources for implementation of AVID and collaborating with all stakeholders for successful schoolwide AVID outcomes.

    The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee is responsible for the work output of others. The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Organize and lead an active, participatory AVID Site Team.
    • Act as the liaison with the building administration, counselors, AVID teachers, and AVID District Director.
    • Collaborate with school personnel to place AVID students in college preparatory curriculum.
    • Recruitment, hiring and evaluation of AVID Tutors.
    • Oversee the annual certification process and coordinate all data collection via Site Team.
    • Utilize and promote the online and print materials in the AVID libraries with AVID Elective teachers as well as schoolwide staff.
    • Provide professional learning regarding AVID methodologies for other staff members of the school and district.
    • Gather evidence, with the assistance of the AVID Site Team, to demonstrate that AVID strategies are used effectively in the AVID elective classes and schoolwide.
    • Coordinate all AVID trainings, in and out of the district, in order to ensure implementation of AVID schoolwide and in the AVID Elective classroom.
    • Collaborate with other district schools to articulate the curriculum and activities for AVID.
    • Serve as a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
    • Maintain a cooperative, professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

    Term of Employment: Teacher Contract

    Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.

    Evaluation: Aligned with State teaching evaluation cycle.
