Secondary ICT Teacher (to A Level) - Shanghai, China - August 2019

This new international school opened only in 2018 yet the demand for places is fierce. Using a UK curriculum combined with the Chinese curriculum this bilingual school has more than 200 parents vying for only 75 places next year so new teachers are needed. They are looking for a Secondary ICT Teacher from August 2019. Because it's a new school and a bilingual/bicultural school, teachers working here must be creative, adaptable, resilient and resourceful. The kind of people who want to make their mark and create something wonderful are sought, rather than those who want to step into the finished product.

The school uses the English National Curriculum on top of the Chinese curriculum and teachers will be working alongside Chinese teaching staff in a very integrated environment. The Principals are Western (from the UK) and experience of the UK curriculum is highly desirable since this is a new school where systems still need to be established. Experience of working in a bilingual environment or with English language learners is obviously a plus. Candidates also need to have a BA Degree plus relevant teaching qualification and experience (or PGCE or equivalent) and at least 2 years post qualification teaching experience. An interest in Art, Music or Drama is a plus and teachers with flexible and adaptable personalities and high tolerance for uncertainty and change (since this a new school). This school is not suitable for dependent children unless they have been in a Chinese bilingual environment since 60% of the curriculum and language of instruction is in Chinese.
