POSITION TITLE: Special Education Resource Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold Virginia licensure in special education.

  • Knowledge of best practices and experience teaching middle school students with disabilities.

  • Knowledge of the academic, social and emotional needs of middle school students with disabilities.


JOB DESCRIPTION:
ORIENTATION: JULY 3, 2019

PROGRAM DATES: JULY 8 - AUGUST 9, 2019

Resource Teachers Grades 6, 7, and/or 8

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support students with disabilities who are enrolled in regular education summer programs.

  • Adapt instruction, assignments and curriculum depending on the needs of the students.

  • Provide accommodations and modifications for students as needed.

  • Collaborate with school staff, student services staff and families.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience teaching secondary students with disabilities.

  • Experience with and knowledge of subject matter (math, language arts, social studies or science).

SALARY:
Summer School teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the Non-VRS equivalant rate.Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan. Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $32.50 per hour.
