DESCRIPTION : The Special Education Teacher will deliver self-contained special education services to elementary students in a 12:1:1 setting. She/he will oversee the facilitation of students' IEP: ensuring that each student's goals and objectives are addressed; maintains and updates special education records for accuracy and compliance. She/he will be responsible for collaborating with general education teachers and modifying instruction as needed. Reports to Director of Student Services and Elementary School Principal.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Creates lesson plans for effective delivery of instruction for students in a self-contained classroom setting.
- Collaborates with providers concerning each student's IEP, and provides general classroom teachers with instruction or advice on how to modify lesson plans and work.
- Implements an individualized education program according to the specific needs of a child.
- Assesses skills, collects data, monitors student progress, and evaluates growth to make recommendations for instruction and support.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to learning for all students.
- Conveys knowledge of and enthusiasm for his/her academic discipline to students.
- Works actively to involve parents in their child's activities and communicates clearly with them.
- Able to organize and prioritize daily schedule and duties.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned by administration.
