Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional VOCATIONAL TECH TEACHER- Health Assisting who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners and leaders.

Madison Park Technical Vocational High School is seeking an expert professional to team-teach in the Chapter 74 approved Health Assisting Program, the chosen individual will work to assure students are instructed in the theory, knowledge and competencies as outlined in the Massachusetts Department of Education Frameworks. Through a blend of academic and technical instruction, applied learning, and work site experience, this instructor will assist our students to develop the career skills and knowledge to ensure success in the chosen career and post-secondary education.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Headmaster

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develop partnerships for clinical affiliations with area health care institutions.
  2. Work to increase student clinical opportunities
  3. Participate in supervising clinical experiences.
  4. Instruct students in state approved vocational curricular frameworks (strands 1-6)
  5. Develop and implement assessment strategies to evaluate student progress, interpret results and share progress reports with other staff members and parents.
  6. Maintain electronic records of student performance
  7. Manage administrative duties including a homeroom, and attend professional development meetings.
  8. Collaborate with Co-op coordinator to develop partnerships with local businesses in order to support the development of a progressive model of internships and co-op placements
  9. Assist students in the participation of Skills USA events
  10. Provide differentiated instruction to special education students and English language learners to assure completion of program requirements
  11. Assist in monitoring work related experiences
  12. Perform other related duties as requested by the Headmaster or his designee
  13. Communicate student progress with parents and guardians
  14. Support students in groups and individually towards completion of senior project
  15. Be able to work a flexible schedule to implement the above

QUALIFICATIONS--REQUIRED:
  1. Education: Hold a Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing
  2. Hold a valid Massachusetts Vocational Tech Teaching License in Practical Nursing (9-14) or be eligible to obtain.
  3. Hold an SEI endorsement or a dual certification in ESL by July 1, 2021.

  4. Three years of recent (within the last seven years), full time employment experience directly related to nursing
  5. Possession of current MA license as a registered nurse (RN)
  6. Experience teaching and/or supervising CNA's or Nursing Techs
  7. Ability to keep class records and to write reports
  8. Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools as outlined above.
  9. Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS--PREFERRED:
  1. Experience working in an urban area
  2. Experience in Acute Care and Long Term Care
  3. Experience or familiarity with state vocational frameworks
  4. Ability to manage and motivate groups of students Ability to establish a multi cultural atmosphere, which enhances individual growth and promotes a positive self-image.
