Director, Business Systems Integration and Web Services

As the Director, Business Systems Integration and Web Services at K12 - you will be responsible for defining and implementing the overall strategy for K12's enterprise service bus (KSB), business systems integration, order management, web services, and supporting applications. You'll lead a talented team of 12-18 employees and contractors who are responsible for designing, developing and implementing data-intensive solutions that support customer/school-facing and internal business needs. This role requires a balance of management/leadership responsibilities while having a percentage time for solution shaping and strategic direction.   • Define and execute technical and functional roadmaps; and align technology to business strategy.
  • Partner with technical management and key business stakeholders to lead the technology direction, facilitate key technical decision points, and deliver solutions.
  • Interface with other engineering groups including enterprise architecture and collaborate on integration projects, best practices, and introduction of new technologies.
  • Evolve the K12's integration strategy and architecture through a combination of major projects, minor enhancements and technical refinements.
  • Lead applications development and systems integration activities, including requirement analysis, design, planning, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Adopt a Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) methodology and institute a frequent release cadence.
  • Manage multiple teams consisting of Engineering Managers, Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers, and Solution Architects. Oversees both fulltime and contract resources.
  • Provide support for operations and support teams, including root cause analysis and preventative analysis
  • Facilitate learning and growth on the team; lead and mentor team members.
  • Contribute to K12's standards, guidelines and best practices.
  • Extend capabilities through optimal use of existing tools and introduction of new technologies.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degrees in Information Technology, Engineering, Statistics, or related field AND
  • Ten (10) years proven experience in software engineering leadership roles, strong engineering delivery and execution track record, with proven experience around the complete lifecycle of product development OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Agile, working with business users to define user stories, and deliver incremental business value through execution and refinement
  • Experience with customer Java development, ideally in education or order management
  • Experience with major integration tools, preferably including MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
  • Experience with Web Content Management Systems and eCommerce solutions, preferably including Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Magento
  • Ability to work independently and assume full responsibility for delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships
