General Responsibilities :
- Teach 9 th - 12 th grade students Mandarin Chinese; responsible for planning and implementing curriculum to facilitate students' progress toward proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, writing and intercultural communicative competence;
- Successfully prepare students for AP Chinese examinations;
- Utilize technology tools and applications for instructional purposes and communicative and collaborative tools to promote cross cultural communication and collaboration;
- Create and revise thematic-based units and common assessments for years one through four of the Mandarin Chinese curriculum using a district standard;
- Fulfill Confucius Classroom responsibilities. Plan and coordinate special site-based events:
- Assist with the preparation of annual paperwork required by the Asia Society, including the end-of-year report and budget proposal;
- Participate in the National Chinese Language Conference annually;
- Participate in local, regional and/or state conferences, as needed;
- Plan, promote and coordinate summer study abroad for students, including chaperoning duties in China, payable at a teacher's daily rate;
- Plan, promote and coordinate student field trips and competitions, for example, HSK testing, TCCC Language and Culture Day, etc.
- Support and promote Chinese programs and activities in the District; support planning committees in the recruitment of student volunteers.
- Perform other related duties as may be directed by the principal.
