ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Elk Creek Elementary is a close-knit mountain school serving 334 students located in the Conifer area of Jefferson County. We are the proud recipients of the Governors Distinguished Improvement award as well as the John Irwin School of excellence award. We are excited to now offer a preschool program. Serving students in a rural community provides unique opportunities and challenges. We serve students from an area covering 237 square miles, and most students are transported to our campus by their families. The Elk Creek Creed* guides our daily interactions with students, staff and community alike. Our commitment to creating an environment focusing on differentiated and student centered learning is a cornerstone of our school. Teachers model perseverance through emphasis on a continuous learning cycle with students needs at the center. At Elk Creek we are seeking educators who can embrace and/or demonstrate the following:

Salary Plan, Grade, Step: JCE - Professional - 185 days, GR1, 1
Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $39,922.80 - $56,155.10

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY: Responsible for instructing students in an elementary grades K-6. Creates lesson plans, instructs students on core subjects such as science, literature, and math, and creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional preparedness based on the District's Core Curriculum. Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.

Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.

Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.

Participate in ongoing training sessions.

Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.

Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.

Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.

Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.

Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.

Utilize District curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Prepare and distribute parent communications.

Observe and evaluate student's performance.

Manage student behavior in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Teacher must hold Colorado Teaching License and be Highly Qualified in Elementary through the PLACE, PRAXIS II, or approved out of state content exam or meet Elementary HOUSSE.
