A Cut Above is an after-school program serving over 560 students in the critical, and challenging middle-school years. Supporting students who are not in the Promise Academy charter schools, the program provides academic help and leadership development, as well as high school and college preparation. Students participate in weekly discussions and activities around subjects such as lifetime decision making, identifying values, communication and critical thinking, resume building and interview techniques, social etiquette, conflict resolution, and community service, among others.

We are currently seeking a Sports and Recreation Coordinator to plan, organize, and supervise all sports and recreational activities. This individual will assist with procurement of city parks field permits for competitions, games, and sporting events. They will also address and resolve parents' requests & concerns, as well as all general customer service issues related to sports and fitness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and organize sports and fitness workshops/clinics for program participants and program staff
  • Provide support for evaluation of sports/fitness workshops and programming
  • Create marketing materials to promote sports related tournaments, clinics, and services provided
  • Supervise fitness specialists and consultants to develop sports/physical activities
  • Develop tools to track and assess progress of sports and fitness programs
  • Write reports and give presentations on the progress of physical activities
  • Coordinates and maintain gymnasium usage schedule
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sports Management or related field preferred
  • At least 3 years experience working in Fitness based programming
  • Must have strong computer, writing, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience with group activities and workshop facilitation a plus
  • Position requires extensive field work and flexible hours
