CTE PARTNERSHIP COORDINATOR

Salary Range: $21.93-$21.12 per hour non-exempt ($35,091-$41,803 annually)

Essential Functions and Objectives:

To support a DPS high school in the execution of CTE partnership initiatives, with a focus on centrally-coordinated work-based learning with a focus on internships.

- Under the direction of the School Pathway Director and central CareerConnect team-complete support activities related to the execution of centrally-coordinated work-based learning initiatives (career exploration events, mentoring, and internships) and higher education activities for students, including but not limited to the following...

Registering students for activities via an online system

Supporting teachers in the completion of activity pre-work

Driving students to and from offsite activities

Support students as they participate in work-based learning and higher education activities

Coordinating registration and transportation for college visits

Coordinating with counselors to manage logistics related to in-school college admissions activities

Coordinating registration for summer higher education programs

Facilitating students' completion of thank-you cards to companies and universities

- Assist the CTE teacher(s) with meeting their advisory committee requirements, whether through a school-based committee or by attending a DPS industry summit twice per year. Assist CTE team with tracking of advisory committee activity.

- Maintain communications with school faculty and staff (as needed) regarding CTE activities and excursions initiatives.

- Assist students on an individual/group basis with document completion (e.g., resume/cover letter writing, internship applications, mentor profiles, etc.).

- Coordinate regularly with school counselors, college readiness coordinator, and other pre-collegiate partners in the school.

- Assist CTE student organization teacher advisors (FBLA, DECA, HOSA, TSA, FCCLA, SkillsUSA, and Creative Careers) as needed.

- Assist in the promotion and execution of district-wide college and career ready events such as 8th grade career fair, 9th higher ed expo, and the 12th grade career expo.

- Provide additional support (as needed) to students with special needs participating in CTE activities.

- Coordinate and prepare students for summer internship opportunities at designated sites.

- Work under the leadership of the DPS Work-Based Learning Manager and participate when needed in work group sessions related to internship curriculum development and process mapping. Participate when needed in recruitment of internship company hosts in coordination with the DPS CTE team.

- Demonstrate professional behavior as defined by CTE's work-based learning program guidelines.

- Provide case management and support of students placed in internships.

- Meet with internship supervisor and student on a regular basis to monitor progress and discuss any concerns.

- Provide coaching to student and/or work place supervisor to ensure positive outcomes.

- Facilitate development of action plan for performance issues when warranted.

- Monitor the situation to make sure both supervisor and student expectations are met.

- Manage paperwork associated with the internships such as contracts, training plan, evaluations and timesheets.

- Support internship supervisors when an urgent need arises.

- Manage worker compensation claims.

- Assist with meaningful closure if internship is terminated prematurely.

- Ensure student is in a safe work environment and contact WBL Manager if concerns arise.

- Participate in training provided by the CTE team and/or Goodwill industries as requested.

- Actively promote, and attend when needed, college and career opportunities within CTE Pathways, including career fairs, college admissions events, summer programs, affinity group meetings, parent meetings, etc., as part of a larger College and Career Readiness team that may include school counselors.

- Serve as key component of the school-based CTE Team, and participate in all activities of that team as required by the school's CTE Pathways Director. As directed by school leadership, provide occasional support for planning, execution, and logistics for DPS career exploration and mentoring activities.

- Help facilitate surveys of counselors, teachers, business partners, administrators and students.

- Deliver pre- and post- program evaluations to students as part of CTE district-wide internship program.

- Work with DPS CTE team to evaluate results to provide data for program outcomes and satisfaction of program.

- Collect, input, and report on school and district data needs related to CTE activities in DPS.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Beginning skills in Excel and web-based applications/data systems.

- Must demonstrate desire and ability to work effectively with urban youth in both individual and group settings.

- Must have good organizational and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision.

- Willingness to work with individuals from postsecondary institutions and business/industry to develop, organize, and execute activities for students to enrich their educational experience.

- Must be eligible and attend training to drive DPS small activity bus for job shadows, internship, and excursions.

Education Requirements:

- High School Diploma or GED, plus 3 years of paid related experience or an Associate's degree or equivalent college courses in counseling, social work, urban education, business or related field of study, plus 1-2 years paid/non-paid related experience.
