Lake Forest Community High School is seeking a full-time School Psychologist Intern for the 2019-2020 school year.
Description: Lake Forest High School's school psychology internship offers tremendous breadth and depth of experiences. Interns will work across all 3 tiers of service delivery to perform a variety of duties in preparation for independent, professional practice. Depending on the intern's training needs and interests, more focus may be given to a particular tier, student population (e.g. low incidence disabilities/self-contained populations), or type of service. Description: Lake Forest High School's school psychology internship offers tremendous breadth and depth of experiences. Interns will work across all 3 tiers of service delivery to perform a variety of duties in preparation for independent, professional practice. Depending on the intern's training needs and interests, more focus may be given to a particular tier, student population (e.g. low incidence disabilities/self-contained populations), or type of service. Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Member of at least 1 of 3 problem solving teams (Core Teams) for the schoolAcademic and behavioral screeningStandardized assessment (cognitive, academic, and social-emotional initial and re-evaluations as well as specialized assessment for low-incidence/self-contained populations)Curriculum based assessmentReport writing and preparation/completion of IEP paperworkComplete case study evaluations and facilitate eligibility/entitlement determinationsFacilitate IEP domain meetings and maintain compliance for (re)-evaluationsProvide therapeutic intervention/counseling for students with social/emotional/behavioral needsSocial skills intervention/training (using social cognitive or behavioral methods based on students' abilities)Academic support (consultation to develop interventions and monitor effectiveness)Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) developmentAssessment and intervention for students age 18-22 in the district's Transition programSystem level support opportunitiesTeacher/parent consultationProgress monitoring504 Plan Eligibility and DevelopmentVarious data management and research opportunities
Qualifications:
- Endorsement from a NASP and CAEP approved university program (Verified through ISBE form 73-44 "Notification of School Service Personnel Intern Eligibility Status").
- Ability to work well with othersDemonstrate mastery of school psychology courseworkDeveloping consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and studentsPossess the organization and time management skills needed to handle multiple responsibilitiesAware of own limitations and seeks guidance when neededComfortable working independently once an activity has been adequately explained/supervisedMutual fit between intern and LFHS
