BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

The position of Administrative Coordinator for Multimedia Design requires a bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, graphic design, photography, strategic communication, public relations, English, writing, or other disciplines directly related to the duties of this position. At least two years of experience in a professional communications environment, with demonstrated accomplishment in photography and graphic design. Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of tools, Outlook, Access and/or other database software, the Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud and the ability to quickly learn other PC-based software. Working knowledge of social media is essential; and web design skills, familiarity with PWCS, and public education are highly desirable. Excellent communicator and team player, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

The Administrative Coordinator for Multimedia Design will assist the Supervisor of Multimedia Design and the Director of Communication Services in the design of brochures, graphics, web content, curriculum guides, and will provide quality photographic images suitable for publication, print reproduction, display and electronic reproduction for inclusion in final products such as computer-generated presentations, web sites, print publications, displays, and video productions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

For Prince William County Public Schools, in accordance with the law, Board policy, and administrative directives, the Administrative Coordinator for Multimedia Design shall provide effective leadership to ensure that all duties are performed in a collaborative, efficient, effective, and responsible manner. This shall include:
•Working collaboratively with all stakeholders in support of the PWCS Strategic Plan and the overall mission of Providing A World-Class Education;
•Determining the method best suited for quality photographs;
•Conferring with and advising administrators and teachers on the feasibility of photographic projects;
•Assisting in planning layouts and materials to be included in brochures, curriculum guides and similar productions;
•Taking quality pictures in color or black and white, with or without flash, indoors and outdoors, and on location or in studio;
•Using digital cameras to produce digital images for all photographic applications;
•Ensuring that photographs are in correct form, size, and file type;
•Demonstrating mastery of lighting, exposure, color balance and other areas;
•Using image manipulation software to prepare individual images or combinations of images in digital form for use in publications, displays, on television and on other applications;
•Participating in preproduction, planning, costing, and scheduling of assigned projects;
•Overseeing the packaging and distribution of all locally produced photographic items, including prints and photographs in electronic form; files and archives digital images for easy retrieval;
•Creating and maintaining digital photo sharing/purchasing; and
•Designing and assisting other team members in the development of high-quality graphics and logos;
•Providing training and assistance to others on graphic design production and effective photography;
•Writing web and publication copy, as assigned; and
•She or he will work to support the efforts of various people/roles over multiple communication platforms, and across PWCS offices to maximize results on collaboratively-developed print, video, and online pieces.
•Completing other duties as assigned.
