Brief Description:
The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist is responsible for the implementation of a division-wide, comprehensive social-emotional learning framework to promote safe and supportive learning environments. The SEL Specialist will coordinate the support, resources, and professional learning provided to schools for the implementation of SEL practices, lessons, and activities designed to enhance student learning. Through a coordinated effort, the SEL Specialist will also work collaboratively with other Department of Pupil Services staff to implement a universal approach to Restorative Practices that focuses on building relationships between individuals and social connections within school communities and improving effective communication.

Detailed Description:
• Develops a logic model to plan, implement, support and evaluate SEL across schools.
• Partners with identified schools to assist in the implementation of a restorative philosophy and social-emotional learning that emphasizes school-wide prevention and early intervention approach.
• Collaborates with various departments and schools to promote social-emotional learning and a universal approach to restorative practices.
• Coordinates all school-based professional learning, technical assistance, and resources.
• Provides oversight, mentoring, consultation, and monitors the fidelity and program goals.
• Provides direct support to schools in implementing and integrating SEL in the classroom through coordinated site visits, staff consultations, and collecting feedback from students, parents, or others involved.
• Collects and analyzes division-level data to evaluate the effectiveness and assess program progress.
• Performs designated special projects and all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
• Holds a Postgraduate Professional Degree in counseling, social work, school psychology or related field; administrative endorsement preferred
• Has a minimum of five years of experience in education, counseling, social work, school psychology or related field; and at least two years of experience implementing Restorative Practices
• Has excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven expertise in delivering professional learning session in several formats.
• Demonstrated expertise in data systems, analysis, interpretation, and application for school teams.
• Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral and social-emotional strategies and interventions for diverse learners
• Possesses strong interpersonal relations with staff, parents, and community
• Strong organizational and planning skills

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
The SEL Specialist reports to the Multi-Tiered System of Supports Supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger,
handle or feel objects or tools, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to
see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or bend,
and may be required to lift up to approximately 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to
travel, changing locations within a single day.
