The Special Education Compliance Coordinator provides direct and administrative oversight of the school's special education department in order to ensure compliance with federal, State , and school laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

AS A COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR, YOU WILL...
  • Collaborate with special programs leadership and special education teachers regarding the eligibility and compliance processes;
  • Monitor and support the school's compliance to timelines and State and federal regulations;
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from parents in a timely manner;
  • Complete/monitor various reporting, e.g. Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) reports, verification reports, etc.;
  • Provide monthly timeline submissions for students in the eligibility process to ensure that dates are reported correctly to the State
  • Prepare initial eligibilities and chairs eligibility meetings;
  • Serve as a contact to the Response to Intervention (RTI) team and the 504 staff;
  • Serve as a contact for the Related Services Coordinator
  • Assist in the coordination of related services to ensure timely delivery of services and compliance within the ESE program
  • Develop a working knowledge of FLCCA Student Information Systems to ensure accuracy of student records
  • Work collaboratively with others to achieve special education performance and compliance goals; Serve as a liaison between parents, teachers and lead teachers;
  • Assist with planning/implementing effective professional learning activities for special educators.

If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12's learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child's learning. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • This is an Office Based Position in Jacksonville, FL.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or other related field of study AND
  • Three (3) years of successful experience teaching special education or providing services to special education clients OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Special Education Teacher certification
  • Knowledgeable about Florida Performance Standards, charter school/State /federal laws and regulations, response to intervention, and student support team processes
  • Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; Experience working with/maintaining a database; Web proficiency
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.
  • Ability to pass required background check
