Role Mission: The mission of the Director of Operations, CNP is to ensure operational excellence, effectiveness and efficiency at the campus level that is aligned across all cafeteria units in Texas and Louisiana. They adhere to and implement the food and nutrition standards set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). More specifically, they ensure internal operations are aligned between our regional managers so that processes are compliant, standardized, and able to be replicated with success as IDEA Public Schools expands in new and existing regions. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring financial targets are met by each cafeteria unit and the district as a whole, promoting IDEA's Wellness Policy, developing processes that meet or exceed industry best practices, and coaching and developing CNP headquarters and campus personnel in all matters relating to food service operations.

Accountabilities :

1. 100% of campuses meet the campus fund balance goal by June 30.
  • Coordinate with the CNP Operations Manager to develop trainings on operational efficiencies and best practices for campus CNP managers throughout the academic year
  • Monitor the CNP tracker (monthly) and identify opportunities to decrease expenses and increase revenue
  • Conduct semi-annual campus audits to ensure alignment to state guidelines and compliance
  • Meet with the Nutrition team on a monthly basis to review campus menu compliance and recipe execution with an alignment to our Healthy Kids Here Initiative

2. Meet or exceed 85% Employee Retention.
  • Develop and improve recruitment tools ( i.e. screening exercises, interviewing protocol) for use by the CNP Regional Operations Manager as to hire top performers for CNP roles
  • Refine the onboarding, developing and retaining process for CNP HQ and campus manager s, standardize for use in every region in such a way that success can be replicated
  • Review departmental job satisfaction survey results and develop strateg ies for continuous improvement
  • Write and implement departmental policies and procedures, with operational context, that align with IDEA's Human Resources and TDA compliance

3. Meet the district cost per meal equivalent with 100% campus meeting or exceeding campus cost per meal equivalent goal.
  • Collaborate with CNP Finance to ensure vendors product and service is reviewed on an annual basis for best pricing that decreases district cost
  • Identify potential new vendors that can provide product or service as we expand to new regions
  • Coordinate with the CNP Nutrition team to remove or modify unpopular menu recipes to decrease food cost and increase student participation
  • Collaborates with Regional Directors of Operations (RDO) and Assistant Principals of Operation (APO) to verify operational process are taking place at the campus using Observational Tool


4. Pass 100% of Texas Department of Agriculture/Louisiana Department of Education, external and internal audits(s), with zero follow up findings.
  • Coordinate with CNP Assistant Director of Finance to improve on internal audit processes and preparation
  • Cascade changes in state guidelines and compliance to CNP Operations Manager and CNP Operations Coordinator
  • Coordinate with CNP Operations Manager to develop and execute trainings with a focus on passing internal/external audits
  • Develop strategy for adhering to compliance guidelines as we expand to out of state markets

5. 100% of campuses are operationally ready 2 weeks prior to the first day of school
  • Evaluate previous year(s) BOY execution, identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategy for continued success
  • Build upon BOY execution to develop tools (i.e. Quick Start guides, Playbooks, etc.) to drive results in terms of successful replication of processes
  • Coordinate among other headquarter auxiliary departments to ensure alignment in metrics for assessing success the overall BOY experience
  • Partner with vendors 6 months prior on plan for providing product and service to new campus cafeterias

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Management and/or Administration or related
  • Experience: 3+ years in leadership role(s) within food or hospitality related industry, oversight of multiple units across several regions
  • Licenses or Certifications: Nationally recognized food safety certification


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Business awareness with working knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and processes used in food management.
  • Knowledge of safety, security and sanitation procedures and their implementation in food operations
  • Knowledge of local, state, and national policy of managing food service programs: National Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, and Child and Adult Care Food Program, and the Community Eligibility Provision. Ability to comply with federal, state, and local laws as well as board policy in food service area
  • Knowledge of state audit processes for internal, external, single audits and state audit reviews
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a diverse group of individuals across multiple regions.
  • Strong computer literacy, that includes an understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to understand and interpret data (charts, graphs, etc.).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates strong problem solving, adaptability and flexibility skills.
  • Can work independently with little direction.
  • Can handle stress well to meet time sensitive deliverables
  • Able to work prolonged and irregular hours especially in the months leading to our first day of school.
  • Able to travel approximately 20% of the work week.

Compensation:
  • Salaries for this role typically fall between $65 ,426 to $ 83,419 , commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
