REPORTS TO:
ESOL Department and assigned summer principal

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant must:

  • Current PWCS employee
  • Must have a valid ESOL VA license
  • Meet or exceed all performance standards
  • Will hold a certified contract with PWCS for the upcoming school year

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, specifically as an ESOL teacher with at least one year of experience at the middle school level
  • Leadership experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Positions are contingent upon sufficient student enrollment and program needs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:


  • Conduct minimum of one non-evaluative classroom visit per EL program teacher using the Classroom Look Fors Tool and Four Square Reflection at each middle school summer school (central sites only). Each observation should include growth-producing feedback and collaborative conversations with the teacher. Training will be provided to assist with this requirement.

  • Review classroom materials to ensure appropriateness for ELs

  • Assist with materials delivery and return to Ann Ludwig

  • Interpret data (including ACCESS scores) to inform instruction

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to teachers of ELs regarding instruction and assessment

  • Provide support to teachers and staff in regards to cultural responsiveness

  • Respond to parents/guardians as needed in regards to EL program

  • Attend and assist with Summer School training on June 13
