The MTSS Manager will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Support in driving the district implementation of MTSS to ensure that every school has the framework and resources to provide high quality core Instruction and the academic and social emotional interventions needed to successfully meet ALL students' needs.

  • Convene regular meetings of the cross-departmental CPS MTSS Committee, and guide the efforts of team members, providing leadership, motivation, and coaching in the planning and implementation of all team roles and responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the MTSS Teams in networks and schools

  • Support in the design and delivery of continued Professional Development for MTSS Committee members, Central Office administrators, Network team members, principals, and lead teachers.

  • Conduct school site visits to capture best practices and elicit feedback and recommendations from school-based staff

  • Serve as an active member of the Teaching and Learning Leadership team, engaging in efforts such as strategy setting, performance management, and team building

  • Communicate and report status of progress with Chief Officer of Teaching and Learning weekly



In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the MTSS Manager must possess the following qualifications:

Type of Education Required :

  • Undergraduate degree in education, youth development, counseling, social work, or related field

  • Master's degree in educational leadership strongly preferred



Type of Experience and Number of Years :

  • Recent Teaching and/or Instructional Coaching experience (preferably in Math or Literacy)

  • Experience designing and facilitating Professional Development sessions for school leaders and staff

  • Experience planning, leading and executing initiatives with adult learners

  • Demonstrated success and experience with and/or knowledge of best practices for supporting English Language Learners

  • Demonstrated success and experience with and/or knowledge of best practices for supporting Diverse Learners (Special Ed)

  • Five years of professional experience in education, school psychology or related field

  • Three or more years of direct supervisory experience managing teams is preferred

  • A minimum of three years of experience, driving complex projects requiring significant cross-functional collaboration, in a large organization is preferred

  • Demonstrates expertise in leadership development, building effective teams, coaching, and ensuring professional growth for all team members

  • Is knowledgeable of operations, management and organizational design, and uses this knowledge to ensure improved outcomes within Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

  • Is passionate about providing equitable support to all children to meet varying needs

  • Is dedicated to the development of high quality opportunities and resources in this field for CPS educators and students.

  • Possesses excellent analytical and organizational skills.

  • Understands how to use multiple sources of data to inform daily decisions to improve MTSS practices

  • Is a strong communicator; speaking, listening, and writing.

  • Is self-motivated and able to self-direct.

  • Is organized, flexible and able to work in fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks as well as adapt to priorities that change quickly.

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in accomplishing goals and objectives.

  • Is invested in and committed to being part of a team.

  • Can function effectively in a high paced work environment
