The Assistant Director of Advanced and Gifted Programs guides and coordinates ALP programs and activities within the primary and secondary schools by working with the Academic Administrator, School Directors, the Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, and Accountability Manager and other stakeholders ensuring all ALP programs comply with guidelines and applicable State and federal laws. The Gifted and Advanced Education Director will provide direct and administrative oversight of primary and secondary ALP programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The below State ments are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. • Develops and implements all ALP policies and procedures related to Elementary, Middle School, and High School ALP programs in collaboration with the District Academic Administrator and other stakeholders.
• Develops and implements a results-oriented program design, based on current and historical data, which enables students to advance within the K12 curriculum and programs within the Elementary, Middle School, and High School.
• Verifies that teachers working within ALP/Gifted programs meet all standards and expectations set forth in school policies.
• Works with stakeholders to find solutions & produce new opportunities to improve and expand the Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA) ALP offerings.
• Provides professional development and dissemination of "best practices" for ALP programs in the virtual school settings. The ALP Coordinator implements and investigates the highest levels of instructional competence in the ALP Lead staff at the Elementary, Middle School, and High School. The ALP Coordinator will challenge teachers to demonstrate their instructional expertise by engaging them in creative and effective virtual web conferencing/teaching and learning sessions geared toward meeting the educational needs of the advanced level learner

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 3 - 5 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Assists with projects as directed by Head of School or Academic Administrator and the Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Accountability Manager
• Actively participates in all District meetings assigned.
• Participates in the development of the ALP program on the national level by attending the National ALP Coordinators' biweekly meeting.
• Builds community by contributing to school message boards, newsletter and events;
• Maintains paperwork consistently, appropriately and in a timely manner.
• Provides support and development to ALP faculty members via regular PLC meetings, professional development sessions and individual conferences (as needed).
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelor's Degree
• A minimum of three years successful virtual teaching experience and
• A minimum of three years successful experience working with Gifted Programs OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: GA Teaching Certificate with Gifted Certification

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Web proficiency.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time for meetings, professional development, and school events
• Ability to pass required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous experience as an online educator
• Previous leadership experience
