Job Details
The Partnership is seeking a full-time, self-motivated and results-driven person to fill the role of Development Manager of Special Projects and Events for support of its private and public fundraising efforts. The new position requires excellent project management skills and will serve as a key member of the organization’s development team, working cooperatively to plan, resource, and drive events and other fundraising activities. The abilities to multitask, organize and prioritize multiple programs are essential, as this role involves overseeing all donor activities, including fundraising events, days of service, and student-focused opportunities, as well as rollout of a new customer relationship management system (Raiser’s Edge NXT). The Development Manager of Special Projects and Events reports directly to the Director of Development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications & Reporting
Serve as primary liaison, in consultation with Director of Development in coordinating and executing development priority projects, including rollout and and oversight of new CRM system, Raiser’s Edge NXT
Serve as a liaison to the Director of Development for data, information, and reporting needs
Develop materials successfully communicating the organization’s vision for Development
Summarize thoughts, ideas, and notes from leadership and project meetings and distribute follow-up action items to appropriate stakeholders in a timely fashion
Report the progress of initiatives back to the Director of Development; gather information, organize and present ideas, materials and recommendations clearly
Maintain performance management reporting, tracking, and forecasting through key performance indicators in support of organizational vision
Implement a structure and process for file management, fostering a community approach and easy access to key development materials
Serve as a convener, facilitating workgroups, meetings, engaging in appropriate conversations with internal/external stakeholders, conducting appropriate research to support strategies and creating roadmaps to advance Development projects
Execution & Monitoring Partner with the Director of Development to manage outcomes of leadership meetings, specifically related to development
Lead, monitor, and manage project team tasks, assignments, and timelines to ensure timely delivery of development projects
Identify obstacles, devise solutions and maintain management system to ensure timely resolutions
Prioritize multiple assignments and execute strategies within limited timeframes to meet deadlines, ensuring project deliverables are met
Assist with the collection, analysis and display of data in charts, tables or other formats to support department needs and project execution
Planning Assist in the annual identification and defining of development priority projects
Participate in the prioritization of annual projects in alignment with organizational goals, strategies, and mission-critical activities
Partner with key stakeholders in designing solutions to solve development needs, maximizing resources and efficiencies, with a focus on development and campaign priorities
Establish and lead high performing project teams to deliver development solutions, document tasks, assignments, and establish timelines for project delivery
Relationship Management Partner with development leadership to identify key development stakeholders for information sharing, feedback, and ongoing process improvement
Create a project team environment that fosters trust and facilitates solution-oriented discussions ensuring optimal development solutions
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess:
3-5 years of experience in development, project management and/or constituent relationship management
Proven project management skills
Experience working with customer-relationship management systems; experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT a plus
Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency
History of partnering with leadership to drive execution
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse constituencies, meet deadlines, be self-motivated, and work independently
Accuracy, attention to detail and a customer service oriented attitude
Ability to work collaboratively and a team player
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to organize resources and establish priorities
Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports
An appreciation for and support of diversity in the workplace in all its forms
Experience in a data-driven environment

The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is a non-profit organization created in 2007 to transform historically under-served schools and serve as a scalable transformation model for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the State of California, and the nation. The Partnership dramatically accelerates achievement for students in the district’s highest-need schools by operating a network of 18 schools (14,000-student enrollment) in Boyle Heights, South LA, and Watts.
